"Nicole & Mal are a lovely couple and couldn’t do enough for us. Gave helpful advice on local places to eat as well as knowledge of Wigtown.
The property was very homely, lovely room with book theme and comfy beds. Nice bathroom with modern shower. Living room downstairs to use was also very cosy and comfortable.
Breakfast was amazing, all local produce and even went out of their way to get the Rice Krispies that we asked for because they had run out.
Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area to stay here."
"The hotel is in a great position overlooking the harbour. We had an amazing sea view which they upgraded us to. It was clean but very tired. The bathroom wants desperately to be updated even though everything worked. It made the room look dirty even though it wasn't. The beds were springy could do with new mattresses. But as I said it was all clean and did the job."
"Had an easy, friendly check in, Views from reception were amazing.
Had booked a balcony sea view room which was located down a flight of stairs.
Room was large with seating and table. Bathroom a bit dated and noisy plumbing
but shower over the bath was good. Nice big concrete balcony with lovely view over
Portpatrick.
Breakfast was delicious and all staff were nice and friendly.
Would definitely stay again."
"The entrance way to the hotel was stunning, the road was a fair distance with woodland on both sides and arriving at the hotel frontage gave a very regal impression of days gone by. At the reception, we were welcomed by two staff members one of whom booked us in with our reservation and the other showed us to our room and talked us through the hotel and showed us the facilities (pool, gym… etc..) the room was more than average size with more than a king-size bed, en-suite, four chairs, two bureau areas, a long unit with tea, coffee etc a wall mounted tv, a balcony that over looked the golf course, on the down side no room fridge which for a hotel of such standing is a poor show. The hotel bar is well-stocked with plenty of areas to relax, and it also has a full-size snooker table for your enjoyment. The breakfast had everything you could want to help start your day. All the staff were always happy to assist in any way needed.
The hotel overall is good however it is looking a bit tired in its decoration, the carpets have seen better days. A hotel of this standing and its past history are clearly missing a trick of not using multiple Scottish tartans for different areas of carpets around the hotel and naming each room/area with the tartan used that name and giving visitors even more history into the wonders of Scotland, but overall we had a most enjoyable stay at the Cally Palace"
"Lovely country pub with beautiful rooms upstairs. Really friendly staff and the view on the way to my room were the best I had all day, and I had covered 270 miles 😳"
"Friendly staff, room was clean and adequate, no problem in getting extra beverages, breakfast very good, bed comfortable , bathroom and little small, cabinet above small sink to low when trying to wash or shave , but got on with it and did not spoil our stay, very good shower, lovely view from window overlooking harbour, enjoyed our stay over 3 nights would go back 😀"
"Staff were super friendly and helpful. Hotel seemed newly renovated and was clean and comfy. Room had some extra amenities than most hotels, which we loved. Friendly locals and good food!"
