Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls

"We stayed at the Tower Room overlooking the falls. The view was amazing. You get to see the falls very clearly. We were in the 11th floor and still the views were good. We went in the summer time. So, we could also see the fireworks cleanly from the room. No obstruction at all. The location is also perfect. Very close to the cable cars that take you down to the main attractions. Perfect location. These are the good part. Now comes the other side. The room was not clean. There was hair stuck on the hair dryers. The bathroom shower curtain was not clean. The carpet had a moist/wet smell to it. The elevators were suuuuuper slow. The parking is not free (as I assume is with most places in this area). Without the location and view this becomes a ~$80/night or less kind of hotel. You pay for the view. You pay for the location. But nothing else. We could not check out any of the amenities in the hotel. But we walked by the pool and I would likely have not gone to it even if I had the time. They give you a sheet of discounts and vouchers at check-in, but again, we could not make use of it. We did go to the Maple Place but the tour was anyways free. The voucher did not matter in that case. Hyatt (right next door) appears to be a bit far away, but they have the height advantage. So, the higher rooms will likely have better views. But it is also more expensive that this place. But I assume it will be very clean. Same goes with Marriott, but that is a bit more away than Hyatt."

Howard Johnson Plaza by Wyndham by the Falls Niagara Falls

"The place overall was really good for a fair price. We wish the rooms would’ve been a little bit more up-to-date. The air-conditioning unit probably should be replaced. Our room felt really muggy and woke up with dry throats. Just kind of felt like the room was old and could use some revamping. The amenities were great! Loved the pool, hot tub, and sauna"
