Very friendly and helpful staff, better English than I expected. More or less traditional ryokan, with tatami floors. The room is spacious during the day when the futons are rolled up (the staff does that for you), and the futons are very comfortable to sleep on. This was a very nice experience for me and my family. The hotel itself is very nice, but the best part is the service provided by the staff. Extremely courteous and they provided for all our requests. It's in a very nice location with 9 onsens (hot spings) within walking distance. As long as you stay in a hotel in town, you get a free key to access all of them. The hotel provides you with a Onsen outfit that we found very fun to walk around in (like a kimono with jacket and wooden sandels)....

This place was absolutely wonderful! My first time experiencing an onsen and it was amazing. The shuttle pick up and drop off from the train station was great. The welcoming staff at check in/check out. The room I selected was AMAZING!! So serene and quiet. I got the private bath with my room, and boy was it relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay at this family run ryokan. Staff was friendly and helpful and the room was spacious and clean. Food was excellent and had a very warm, home cooked meal vibe. Access to town was good and easy and skiing conditions were top notch!

Beautiful snow country inn! Great accomodations, service, hospitality & meals! Nice that they have private Onsen baths. Quiet and lovely. Amazing experience.

Staff is super helpful. The hotel is not fancy or modern but it all works great for a ski trip. Shuttles to and from the train station and the slopes, rental shop for clothes and skis on site. Plus a great onsen as well. The breakfast was really good. While there is no onsite restaurant for dinner, there is a really good and super affordable restaurant less than 5 minutes from the hotel. Highly recommend and would stay there again.
