Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The room itself faced both the river and mountain and was delightful. This property is quite basic but the location is directly across the street from the UNESCO World Heritage Site and a close walk into Nikko. 10 out of of 10 for convenience. Just don’t expect any luxury amenities.
Nice hotel and friendly staff. Hotel is a bit dated and the dining/restaurant availability was a bit confusing (they gave us coffee tickets but it never seemed to be an option as it wasn’t staffed or offered in the lobby, and when we went to the restaurant they ushered us out the back door of the hotel which made us chuckle and go find somewhere else to eat). We stayed 2 nights in the room with the private onsen which offered great views. Would recommend this hotel, it just could use some updating and a clearer dining schedule.
Excellent traditional Japanese ryokan hotel with great staff. Having a private onsen (some of the rooms only) overlooking the fast-flowing river was the cherry on top. The rooms are spacious and the in-house restaurant served excellently prepared and presented traditional Japanese food which was a great cultural experience.
This was an excellent ryokan with a very convenient location, just a short walk from the main tourist attractions and the bus stop. The service was outstanding, and the staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. The highlight of my visit was definitely the private bath overlooking the river. It was so peaceful and relaxing, and easily one of the best experiences of my trip so far. I would highly recommend staying here if you're looking for an authentic ryokan experience with exceptional hospitality.

Authentic feel and warm friendly service. Food was lovely. Appreciated the shuttle bus.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was close and an easy walk to the shrines. The room's private bath was wonderful. The upstairs shared bath had hotter water and views of the river.
The breakfast and dinners were delicious
Had a really relaxing stay here - the staff were friendly, the facility was clean, and I loved the traditional feel of this place. I would definitely stay here again!
To us this was an authentic Japanese experience, sleeping on the floor, private onsen, beautiful location and fantastic food. It's also in a perfect location in Nikko. It's our second stay an we love it.
The Toshogu Shrine and Shinto Bridge are within walking distance. There are multiple restaurants within walking distance for lunch, including a Lawsons! They have a free shuttle to and from the train station, what a nice accommodation. The rooms were spacious and clean. The onsen was clean and also has an outdoor onsen! The food was delicious and they different each night and breakfast! I highly recommend this ryokan and I would definitely come back here when visiting Nikko!
The staff and service were excellent, the rooms were spacious and lovely, we loved our private balcony bath, and dinner and breakfast were fantastic. Highly recommend staying here.
Great room loved the semi outdoor bath.
Good location in Nikko and friendly staff.
Wonderful couple of days. Delicious dinners and breakfast. If anything, maybe a bit less tofu in the meals, I know it is a specialty.
Would highly recommend.
Stayed for one night as a couple. Excellent location and room facilities; it’s right next to the National Park, making for a convenient return to the hotel before jumping into the onsen in the evening as you await a decadent dinner. Thoroughly impressed with dinner consisting of local fish, pickles, rice and beef showing off Tochigi’s local produce
Would stay again
Traditional ryokan with half board - stayed on tatami mats so had a trully traditional
Experience. Staff very friendly and well
