Another stay at the carlton for us.Once again the hotel staff were great.Really good nights rest,Nice and quite. A walk into town takes about 15 mins and is worth visiting

Supposed to pay on arrival and had already charged my card prior to arrival. Rooms very tired, tv didn’t work, carpets all thread bare. Needs a refurb

The short break we had at the carlton hotel was undoubtedly one of the best we have had. The hotel staff were so welcoming from the time we arrived to the time we left. A delicious breakfast was available to all guests.Please let me say the food was incredible. We will return to the carlton hotel on our next break without a moments hesitation. The room costs are amazing for what you get, The carlton in my opinion is doing a great at attracting guests to the hotel. Excellent work to all whom work at the carlton hotel to make our the guests holiday breaks memorable

The hotel was nice but it was a bit dated and needed a bit of tlc to the doors and walls. It was an all round lovely stay apart from the fire alarm going off at 1:30am and the breakfast was nice could maybe have had a few more options with what was there. The staff were helpful and friendly. But overall we had a lovely time and would come back again. For the price I didn’t expect anything more.

I stayed here for 2 nights and wouldn't stay any longer. The rooms are so outdated it's unreal and the worst I've ever stayed at. First is the carpet in the hallways- It's so old and ripped that it needs a refurb. Also the floors are so creaky it's about to break. Second is the bathroom. The shower rail and the shower head are completely loose. Literally they are all hanging off the wall. Finally the TV cable. We did not have a TV due to the ethernet cable port being broken. I literally shocked myself by touching it because it's live. Oh yeah and the noise in the room was like your ears ringing because they have a hyfire unit in the rooms. The only good thing was being so close to the seafront and free parking but that's it really.

Was a lovely stay, staff were friendly and helpful and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Plenty of choice for breakfast and good value 3 course meal in the evening with good choices. My only negative would be the hotel is a little tired and the rooms could do with refreshing and updating.

Lovely hotel. We really loved our room and can’t wait to go back to same room. However, we didn’t like that the TV had no signal and no one bothered to sort the problem until day 3. Just after the sorted it, they can back again and took the booster away and we never had TB 4th say. It’s was so hard to get them solving such a small simple thing. Also no smile from staff. It was hard to translate what emotions they are giving.

Comfortable stay
A pleasant stay in this wonderful old building set on the ‘Golden Mile’ in GY. Alright the room was a little tired it was very warm & the bed was very comfortable. The buffet style breakfast was very good. All in all it was a good stay & very good value for money. I’d happily recommend it & would stay there again.

Dated and I was freezing
I’ve stayed here many times with work and I like the hotel - clean and tidy and traditional and it’s not expensive . But each stay it becomes apparent there is hardly any maintenance to the place. My room was large and when I opened the door, the large window was open / ajar and the room was freezing. I had to place a chair in front of the window to stop it blowing open as the mechanism is so old it no longer works. The radiators were off so it took all evening for the room to heat up - I was freezing. The toilet also is not fixed to the floor - it moved ! The whole hotel just lacks decent maintenance yet it was busy - bus loads of pensioners clearly loving it but the basics need sorting during the close season. Breakfast was excellent and staff always excellent.

Thank you for your review, as you have choose to write this review anonymously, and we have had no reports of any doors not closing properly or a toilet not fixed to the floor I cannot reply to any of your comments. I think if we were told about any maintenance issues in the rooms we would get the rectified promptly.

Got a few bed bug bites had to go hospital when I got back home as got infected and put on antibiotics.Under the bed hasn’t been hoovered for months very dirty.

Upgraded to a sea view room. Modern looking bathroom. Spotlessly clean. Iron and ironing board in wardrobe. Corridors old and tired but the room certainly made up for it.

Were do i start well the floor was creeky every step u made was a nightmare getting up for the loo in nite made so much noise then at half 6am was woken by pipes banging so loud it shook the room i went down to reception n told them only to be told its old building so u have to put up with it as nothing can do about itc

Excellent hotel
Second time here in a few months. Me and my daughter absolutely love this place. The rooms are big and comfy, all the staff including the cleaners were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was tasty and a good mix of food. The lift wasnt working the first day we got there which was a struggle for me as im disabled but the lady at the desk reassured me it would be fixed and working soon and come the next day it was! I couldnt fault this hotel and we cant wait to come back next year for my daughters birthday! Thank you everyone

Failure to provide booked sea-view room
I booked a sea-view room at Carlton hotel (Great Yarmouth) on 23/9/23. When arrived, receptionist gave me a backyard- looking room (room number 7). They acknowledged that there was an error from Carlton room allocation. They asked me to call the manager to refund the difference. After few calls and speaking to different managers, they asked me to liaise with Hotels.com where I did the reservation. Carlton hotel ruined my weekend. They are wasting my time by asking me twice to phone back tomorrow. They could have told me to liaise with Hotels.com. They caused a great deal of inconvenience to me. I stayed at Carlton last month but I will simply stop booking at Carlton hotel.

A couple of days at the Carlton.
Hotel was good probably needs updating but that'd be true about many seaside hotels. Staff were very friendly and from what we saw very inclusive to the types of guests they had which is very good. Breakfast was ok standard amongst most hotels I've stayed in, maybe they could tweek it a little as sausage's did feel a little cheap but on the whole a very nice place to stay in a good location on the seafront with very friendly staff. 8/10

Absolutely dreadful. Customer service shocking!!!
This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Coast and country hotels have the lowest standards. The room I was given stank of stale smoke and damp. The bathroom smelled like leaking sewage. Was told I could not be moved to another room as hotel fully booked. The Evening receptionist managed to get me another room which did smell better but the next room had so many health and safety issues and in such disrepair. It was up 4 flights of stairs and the lift was out of order. When I complained and showed the Duty Manager the next morning, she was very dismissive and refused to give any kind of refund. Being an adhoc mystery shopper and worked in customer services myself, I was appalled at the dreadful standard of the hotel and lack of customer care from the Manager. There were coach loads of elderly and frail guests and they were struggling getting to their rooms with the lift out of action. I would not recommend anyone to stay there at all. A very bad experience!! Avoid coast and country hotels where possible!!

Thank you for your review, I am sorry your stay with us did not meet up to your expectations.I am sorry you found the manager on duty dismissive, having gone to the room and looked at all the H&S issues you pointed out, it was explained that the issues you would have been easily rectified if you would have reported it sooner.The lift was out of action for 1 night due to the doors being forced open, this caused the lift doors to go into lock mode. The lift engineer came out as soon as he could and the lift was back up and running.I apologise for any inconvenience that was caused during your stay, we take all comments seriously and will get them investigated.

Left without staying the night. Beds was flimsy and cheap. The cleanliness also was not good as the room smelt of urine in areas and cigarette butts under the bed. The bed moved when my 12 year old got on it. We left and travelled home instead

The young lady on the bar last night was wonderful. Cant say the same for the 2 ladies that were on reception when i checked in. It was not a very worm welcome. No smiles. But still it waa pleasant. Breakfast was ok. Plates are very small so it ment you would have to do a few trips. Could help your self to anything apart from tea and coffee. Only got offered 1 cup. Overall i definitely would stay again. The room was ok. Dusty but clean. Bed was very comfortable. Skept like a log.

I wasn't impressed with the bathroom. The toilet didn't flush very well. The shower curtain was grubby and mouldy along the bottom. No iron available in the room, I had to go to reception to request one. I then had to use the desk in the room to use as the ironing board

Fantastic
Had a brilliant few days away with my daughter at this hotel. We normally go to a camp site up the road but after staying here we will 100% be back next year. The room was a really good size, bathroom was a good size and we had a lively quiet sleep both nights. Yes some room atre out dated and our carpet could do with replacing but to me it looked like there in the middle of doing rooms up. Staff are all friendly and really helpfull and breakfast was lovely. Cant wait to come back

Was clean and tidy staff helpful room was nice beeakfast was nice didnt like tou coupdnt get your own rltea and coffee one moening never had any

Enjoyed my stay, lovely room on the second floor. Nice breakfast and friendly staff. The only downside was the fact the room wasnt ready for the 3pm check in.
