Anne-Marie, I apologise for the confusion however, as explained on check out the rooms had already been paid for prior to your arrival due to you paying directly to expedia, we are unable to offer you a VAT receipt for your stay because the pricing we receive is different to what you originally paid this would only add more confusion for you and the other couple who stayed with us. you are able to still receive a VAT invoice you need to get this from expedia directly as it's them you have paid and not the hotel. again I apologise for any confusion on this matter. Hayley, I apologise for the disturbance of noise during your stay unfortunately there is a road to the side of the hotel and it isn't to everyone's taste especially if our guest are light sleepers should this of been brought to the receptionist we would of done our up most best to make your stay more comfortable and moved you had the hotel not been full during your stay, unfortunately, I am not aware of the water temperature being an issue had this been brought to a member of staff to look into further and rectify? I apologise you was disturb in the night due to the creaking of the building as much as we find this adds a nice feel to the hotel I can appreciate that sometimes this will disturb our guest who are light sleepers. I was unaware of you finding any left over takeaway in your room as this wasn't brought to the receptionist on duty that day, did you report this to a member of staff? we would of been only to happy to rectify the mistake and give your room a full clean again to our usual standards. our housekeeping team have been trained to the highest standard by our head housekeeper please be assured that this doesn't happen and I will make sure the manager of the housekeeping team is informed. I am however glad you enjoyed the room with it being a compact double this is our smallest double room. we hope to see you again in the future so we can show you how good our cleaning department is and the staff we have always try there best to make each guest feel welcome and enjoy their stay. Thank you for taking the time to send in a review about your recent stay with us. I am glad you enjoyed your stay, unfortuantley as we're a small hotel we only have a small car park however this is offered free of charge, we also offer on street parking as an alternative. I will pass your comments onto our chef about the food, there is a selection of cafe's & pubs during the walk into town as you say is roughly around 10-15 minutes. we look forward to seeing you back in York in the future.
