Northeastern Ontario, Ontario hotel rooms at the Independent

"Property has a lot of potential, on site staff were friendly however there was only one employee on shift when we checked in running around like a turkey with her head cut off. The provided breakfast was 1 year old pre packed breakfast sandwiches, stale muffins and juice. There were crumbs on the table. Besides this the room was quite nice and the property is situated in a lovely perch overlooking calendar bay. When we woke from our second night the water was not working in our entire building and there were no staff on site or available to troubleshoot or communicate to the guests what was going on. Not the end of the world, a minor inconvenience however my wife was pretty fired up which is never fun to deal with! In summary i feel that the business is not being run adequately during the off season. I dont know the backstory so won't judge it however it was clear that there is a lack of adequate staffing and absent ownership.. Dissapointed and wont be back. -Justin Mallette."

"Stayed at this hotel due to location to HSN Hospital. Which was in walking distance to Hospital. Rooms were clean and satisfactory. Morning Breakfast was good. Staff were polite."
