I had a pleasant experience with extremely friendly staff and perfect dinner and breakfast. The indoor and outdoor hot springs in the guest rooms are clean and provide a great view of downtown Yufuin and Mt. Yufu. I was disappointed that the weather on the day I visited was a bit bad, but that definitely makes me want to visit Toshoan again next time.

We absolutely adore this place. It provides a tranquil hideaway for travellers to enjoy the beauty of nature, while enjoying the private hot-water bath at your room. Very cosy and private hotel with extremely attentive staff and service. With just a few rooms in total, it provides a very intimate experience and feels almost like a private experience. Large room with great amenities and a priceless view of the entire Yufuin and mountain backdrop. Meals were a private dining experience and food quality is superb.

A perfect place for a little getaway

Firstly, since the taxi fee is covered it's quite convenient even for those who don't drive. The environment of the hotel is so relaxing and the meals are so great! Moreover, the room is spacious and we love that we have a private onsen in the room. The staff are very friendly and are fluent in english. We enjoyed our stay so much!

The property is a bit dated, but the staff were excellent and very attentive, though communication was sometimes a little difficult due to the language barrier. Fantastic Onsen hotel in Yufuin

The staff really are so friendly and helpful. Always so courteous and accommodating. The place is very well maintain and doesn't look old at all. The breakfast and dinner are both so good. I will definitely stay there again if I am going to Yufuin. Keep up the good work. There's a really very nice male staff who take good care of us and our needs. Always smiling. Great job.

Excellent service and dinner. A bit tricky to find the place. staff are all very helpful and friendly , they help us to park the car as the carpark in front of the hotel was full when we arrived. Very spacious hotel room , free drinks at fridge. Free float drinks options for in-room dining ( at a separate dining area inside the hotel room ). Food and drinks are amazing.

A traditional Ryokan that offer excellent service!

The hotel offer superb Japanese hospitality, the meals are delicious. Service are polite and excellent ! It is a very traditional Ryokan with an in-room onsen bath. The hotel does not offer a communal onsen bath. Our room faces mount Yufuin and the view is very nice. Hotel does not have a shuttle service, however, it will pay the taxi driver when you hail a taxi to go to the hotel, on check out, hotel will get a taxi to get you back to the rail station . The stay was very relaxing and of value.

The whole dining experience is one that we will never forget. The menu was well planned, with mostly local and seasonal ingredients. The presentation of each dish was a feast to the eyes. The taste was absolutely divine!!! A big shout out to our hostess Kido San 城戶千津子. She took care of me and my wife during our stay. Always courteous and efficient in what she did. Her rare elegance enhances our experience. She saw us off until we disappeared from her sight, in a down pour. These cultural moments make traveling memorable.
