We stayed at Shayamoya Lodge for two nights. The lodge is nice, 4-stars by South African standards and the thatch-roof chalets are spread over the property, which gives you privacy. Unfortunately the lodge is situated not too far from Golela Road, the connection to the Swaziland border, so there is some traffic noise in the background, which limits the bush experience.
Dinner at Shayamoya restaurant was a disappointing experience. The menu had four options for main courses. The waitress returned to our table after 20 minutes to let us know that the meal option one of us picked was not available any longer. This happened again after another 20 minutes. So basically there were only two mains to “choose” from and it took way over an hour until our food arrived. Poor, slow service.
