Rooms could use an update. Buffet options were not the best for breakfast. We struggled to find something to eat at times. Overall the resort is beautiful and pool and beach areas were very nice! Certain staff members were very nice and helpful where others weren’t as much. Restaurants are good especially the Japanese place! Highly recommend doing the hibachi!

You don’t even have to leave the resort there is so much to do and a ton of restaurants! The beach is beautiful and so are the pools!! We did the sea aquarium boat ride and that was the highlight of our trip for sure. The boat was a ton of fun, you got to snorkel with sharks and sting rays, and the staff were amazing!

My family & I really enjoyed our stay here. Just wish the workers at the buffet & restaurants were more friendly. Seemed very unhappy & like they were doing us a favor. Perfect Family Getaway! Barceló Bávaro exceeded every expectation! The kids absolutely loved the sprawling pools and water slides, while the adults enjoyed the pristine beach and endless entertainment. The only challenge was the language barriee but we were able to still communicate and I used that opportunity to learn some Spanish. The all-inclusive dining was impressive — plenty of options for even the pickiest little eaters. Staff were incredibly warm and attentive, making every family member feel special. The rooms were spacious and spotless. From the kids' club to the nightly shows, there was never a dull moment. We'll definitely be back — this resort truly knows how to create magical family memories!

If you’re looking for a hotel with a good balance of good vibes music, kid friendly and helpful staff, this is the resort for you. The first day we did experience an issue with our room having drain flies, but we did get switched to a new room which was appreciated. Food options are just okay, but everything else made up for it. Special recognition for Darlin Gil who went above and beyond for our family throughout the entire vacation. He checked in with us everyday, offered perks and made our child’s birthday extra special. We are so appreciative of him and looking forward to returning and working with him again!

The resort is incredibly comfortable for families. The pool area, provides a variety of options, the beach is incredible, and they keep it pretty clean. It’s paradise. I didn’t want to leave. The only improvement is the experience around booking for dinner, I ended up having terrible schedules for my kids. However the amenities, and Spa quality, are those from a premium SPA, I would definitely travel to this hotel again. My experience advisor from Expedia was amazing in helping me figure out dinner booking, specially towards the end when everything had been booked.

We had a wonderful stay. It is a beautiful resort. If you know a little spanish it is easier. Most of the staff are not fluent in English. Having said that, I was able to get by with google translator and a few words of Spanish. They have a great animation team. I had no issues making reservations for the restaurants. Tip, as soon as you check in, go to the concierge desk and make all of your reservations. Highly recommend.

I arrived and the room was dirty, sheets , floor and bathroom had a very strong smell. I reached out to my mayordomo btw he was awesome. They got me another room in better condition. Staff was lost and didn’t understand you even I talk Spanish. ( they look to young and immature) the hotel is beautiful but needs more care into details. Food was ok. Housekeeping staff and daycare staff was awesome.

The hotel is very large, elegant, and visually beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly and always willing to help with anything you need, which made the stay more enjoyable. However, the cleanliness of the rooms could definitely be improved. Another issue I noticed was a strong musty smell in some areas, such as the elevators and restaurants, which was unpleasant. Aside from these concerns, everything else was good and I had an overall positive experience.

My trip to the Barceló Bávaro Palace Hotel took place from May 16 to May 22, 2026. It is currently the off-season in the Dominican Republic, so the plane was half empty and there were not many people at the airport. I booked the airport transfer to the hotel in advance via email through the Barceló hotel service at transfers.rd@barcelo.com. I paid for the round-trip transfer in cash at the airport, and it cost only $40. The room was clean, and the best impression was left by the bed, which was extremely comfortable to sleep on. However, the hotel is quite old, so the rooms are in need of renovation. One day, the safe stopped working and I had to contact the manager and call security to fix it. Fortunately, it only took about 15–20 minutes, and the security staff member was very friendly and resolved the issue quickly. Most of the time, I spent relaxing on the hotel beach and by the pool, enjoying different cocktails. Of particular interest was the beach to the right of the hotel, with its untouched Dominican wildlife, where you can be completely alone, knock coconuts down from palm trees, and drink them right on the beach. I have the warmest memories of this trip, and I dream of returning again someday.

Property was very clean and the food was excellent but for the most part the staff was not very polite felt like a bother to them and most could not speak English and very hard to communicate with.But when we needed help from the customer service staff they were all excellent to speak to and always had a smile on there faces .Our room had a none working hair dryer and couldn't find the TV remote for the life of me anywhere.And problem was resolved immediately. Nightly entertainment was good on most nights especially the Michael Jackson show and Circus show.Loved the sports bar where I could watch my beloved Montreal Canadiens games while I was on vacation and always had all kinds of food to eat.Never spent time at the pools but they looked very spacious and had all kinds of chairs. The beach was beautiful and you could walk for miles in either direction and all kinds of chairs to lounge on.The seaweed was plentiful but was not a issue for me and was cleaned up on most days.As for the drinks at the bar they always had what I was looking for.And when it came to night time there was only 1 evening that I saw and bugs or mosquitoes and it was on the minimal side. OUR ROOM WAS SPACIOUS BUT ALWAYS DAMP AND OUR CLOTHES ALSO BUT WE JUST USED THE HAIR DRYER TO DRY OUT .

This was our first time experiencing an all inclusive resort so I don’t have anything to compare to. Check in was awful, rude employees would tell us to step up then walk away and wouldn’t help us. Took over 30 min for someone to finally help. They weren’t very clear on policies and instructions, especially for newbies. Food was ok, just edible enough so we weren’t hungry. Anytime we grabbed corn on the cob, it wasn’t cooked all the way and was very hard. Boat rentals were awesome! Water aerobics and zoomba were great and the staff was entertaining! I wish we got a rundown of the map better. We would have loved to rent a cabana on the adults only area but didn’t know it was there until the second to last day and they were all booked. If you want to watch any tv, bring a fire stick or something because we got maybe 2 English channels and we asked for help but no one came. Carlos was a great service to us though! From other frequent all inclusive resort go-ers, they said this was the best one they’ve been too!

Our stay at this resort was a mixed experience, though unfortunately the negatives far outweighed the positives. The natural setting is truly stunning, the beach was beautiful and the palm trees made for a gorgeous backdrop. The concierge was warm, helpful, and professional throughout our stay. Sadly, that's where the highlights end. The buffet staff was consistently unfriendly and unapproachable, which cast a shadow over the entire trip. The room cleanliness was a serious concern. The floor was unswept with a persistent musty odor, and the bathroom was the worst of it. There was a stale urine smell, and when I wiped down the walls myself, my wipes came back yellow, strongly suggesting old urine buildup. Housekeeping needs to wipe down all surfaces including walls after every turnover. The shower grout was dingy and needs to be scrubbed clean between guests. Mirrors and glass throughout the room were also covered in fingerprints upon arrival. The buffet food was poor and the frozen drinks tasted stale. The deserts were ok. The pool had so many loose tiles it felt unsafe, a hazard that needs immediate attention. This resort sits in a beautiful location with real potential, but it needs a serious overhaul in housekeeping, food quality, staff training, and maintenance before it can live up to its surroundings.
