I booked at a Hyatt because I expected it to be a little nicer. Unfortunately we got there to check in, around 6:30 pm, after a 7 hour car ride and our room was a mess. No sheets on the bed, old food and trash around the room, filthy. Ok, we thought it was a simple mixup of a room marked clean that hadn’t been cleaned. We informed Madisson at the desk, who was extremely kind, apologetic and helpful. (Bonus points for her, she deserves a raise) Unfortunately the hotel was completely booked and there wasn’t another available room for us, there was also a constant flow of people and so Maddison couldn’t much help us get the room cleaned as she was the only person working at all that evening. After waiting over an hour and poor Maddison being constantly swamped, I even offered to clean the room if she could get us a cleaning cart. But she was able to get in touch with her manager who came and cleaned the room for us so we could finally get into our room at about 9 pm. After that fiasco I was grateful for their effort to help us.
However overall the stay wasn’t great. A broken ice machine and no vending machine on every floor, the continental breakfast was basically bagels, yogurt with pineapple and some flavorless eggs or dry waffles.
Also there was only one pot of coffee that was constantly empty. I think 4-5 different patrons asked how much longer for coffee.
We had used Expedia to book, which I won’t do again, because we couldn’t even cancel and go somewhere else.
