Only good location.
Rooms dont have keys to be locked. Very uncomfortable. Too noisy at night. 3 level dorms were a little shocking. location is good and staff were nice but I would not recommend and go back.

Hi, thanks for the visit and taking time to review. We are changing the beds to double bunk beds pretty soon. Also a new addition coming up is keycard access in dorms. If you had told us earlier we could have change your room, only one dormitory has triple bunks, and will be changed soon. Safe travels! Mango tree

Very close to the beach, nice atmosphere
I think this hostel's location is the best if you want to hang out at the beach. I liked the atmosphere, but it was a bit noisy at night & morning especially when you use single room. Only one thing I found it uncomfortable was that they don't have a hair dryer.

Insatisfatória, logo no primeiro dia de hospedagem tivemos problema pois o hostel não fornecia água quente, disseram que a culpa seria da companhia de água do rio de janeiro, porém aí sair do hostel e se hospedar em um hotel no mesmo quarteirão, havia água quente em abundância, mesmo com os vários hóspedes que ali se encontravam. Ademais o quarto da hospedagem tinha a janela do chuveiro voltada para a área de convivência, o que garantia que qualquer pessoa com um metro e oitenta te enxergaria tomando banho. Por fim o telefone para contato com o hostel nunca funciona e eles se recusam a restituir o valor pela noite não utilizada.

The hostel Mango Tree Ipanema has a great location for public transportation (bus and subway), is near the beach. The HOSTEL is very clean, a great breakfast, well organized and with a great atmosphere. THE ONLY THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE WERE 1- I BOOKED WITH MY 3 FRIENDS AT THE HOST, AT RESERVATION I MADE EMAIL REQUEST TO STAY IN THE SAME ROOM BUT when my friends arrived we were not in the same room and my friends questioned and asked to move our friends to that we were together. My friends found the receptionist uneducated and rude and with harsh words to handle the case that was quite simple! 2- Another situation that I did not like, I went to ask the employee (woman who is on the night shift) a towel. She informed me that the HOSTEL charged R$ 5 (reais) for the towel plus $ 20 (reais) (which would be refundable). What I DIDN'T LIKE was that I asked my friends and friends from the same room I was in about this charge, and they all told me that the Receptionists (the two men in the morning) DIDN'T COVER THEM. I found the rules unfair, it seems that they choose guests to charge the fee. I THINK THE HOSTEL MAY HAVE A FRAMEWORK IN RECEPTION WITH ALL THE FEES BEING COLLECTED BY GUESTS FOR BETTER TRANSPARENCY! Apart from the two episodes, SUPER INDICATES HOSTING TO MY FRIENDS!

Camas confortáveis, bom banho, só não entendo pq os hostes do Rio ainda não tem as cortinas nas camas, algo simples. Atendimento da recepção deixou a desejar, cheguei dia 05 e ao chegar na local não encontraram minha reserva, deixei as malas, sair, ao retornar as 6am do dia 06, ainda assim não tinha encontrado(na verdade a atendente ñ fez questão de encontrar) o outro rapaz que tava trabalhando explicou que minha reserva tava para o dia 6, me deram um quarto( porém um quarto misto, não o feminino) fiquei das 7 am as 11am nesse quarto q para mim é inferior e mesmo assim cobraram a diária. Erraram e cobraram de mim

O primeiro atendimento foi horrível, muito ríspido e dizendo informações totalmente diferentes do que está descrito na reserva. A limpeza é boa e a estrutura também. Na troca de turno, o outro atendimento foi melhor.

Friendly staff, great location in Ipanema.Lots of hangout spots around the property and 2 desktop computers for guest use. Large lockers. Only negative- credit card required for incidentals. They type the number into their system, which I was uncomfortable with but the staff showed me the number became masked after manual entry

Good location right next to the beach. However very little bathrooms, extremely loud aircon so had to use earplugs and very bad wifi

Hello, thanks for the visit and review. Most rooms have brand new silent a/c. if your room didn't next time ask reception and if it is available your room can be changed. We have 2 providers with 120mbs connection each and they are enough for our beds. During your stay we had some really heavy rains and the providers were not providing optimal speed but we are constantly working on improving it. Also we have earplugs at reception, just please ask while staying with us next time so we can improve your experience. Thanks!

Muito bonito! I spent great time there, the cozy house have different spaces and if you want share or talk with other one, you'd find that. the front desk are very useful and the kitchen have all you need. it's close to beach, safe area and nearby public station and subway. you must book there!

Ubicación, comodidad y buen desayuno
Equipo muy simpático, excelente ubicación, cómodos baños, el internet sufría intermitencia cuando estaban muchos pasajeros al mismo tiempo conectados, pero generalmente muy buena conexión. El desayuno muy abundante y variado. Buenísima opción en ipanema

in die Jahre gekommenes Hostel
Nachdem ich vor 4 Jahren bereits hier war und sehr begeistert, habe ich das Mango Tree noch einmal gebucht. Allerdings kann ich es in heutigen Zustand nicht mehr weiter empfehlen - Atmosphäre in den "Gemeinschaftsräumen", Zustand und Sauberkeit sowie Serviceorientierung des Personals lassen sehr zu wünschen übrig!

Friendly hostel just 2 minutes from the beach
I stayed in a little private room in this friendly hostel just off posto 9. The location is fantastic; service team excellent, breakfast is ample & better than in any other hostel during my stay. Only downside to me: you cannot bring visitors after 22:00. I really recommend this place!

Melhor qualidade do Hostel: Localização!
O Mango Tree Hostel é uma boa opção para quem está viajando para explorar a cidade sem se importar com conforto na hora de descansar. Ficamos em uma suite privativa com uma cama de casal e uma beliche. O banheiro é bom, tem um espaço razoável e o chuveiro é ótimo. Já o quarto em si deixa a desejar. Além de ser bem pequeno, tem um cheiro forte que remete a locais fechados e velhos, apesar de o quarto ser reformado. A TV fica em um local onde ninguem consegue ver direito. Tivemos um problema com o beliche, durante a noite uma barra de sustentação da cama de cima caiu em cima da minha mãe que estava dormindo na cama de baixo. Relatamos o ocorrido à recepcionista mas nada foi feito com relação a isso. O café é bem simples, poucas opções, mas pode ser mais vantajoso que tomar café nas redondezas, onde tudo é muito caro!

Ficamos apenas 4 dias para um evento na cidade. Efetuamos a reserva para quarto de casal, porém havia somente duas camas de solteiro. O Hostel fica em um casarão antigo e a infraestrutura precisa de manutenção. Os banheiros poderiam ser mais limpos.

No verão com o hostel cheio devido a nossa proximidade a praia dependendo dos hospedes os banheiros ficam com areia mas limpamos constantemente, vamos intensificar. Boa viagem!

Ótima localização
Ponto forte é a localização, o ponto fraco é a falta de conforto do quarto compartilhado, é dividido em dois ambientes, mas o primeiro fica mais desconfortável pelo fato de todos passarem por ele e deixa a luz ligada. O café da manhã e pago dependendo do Rio de reserva. Recepção atenciosa, ótimo custo benefício.

Auberge très mignonne et très bien située. Dès 22h il n'y a plus de bruit, les gens respectent ça et c'est super lorsque l'on se couche tôt car grosse journée de visite

Complete package
Stayed for 6 nights. I was on crutches and the location of this hostel made my life so much easier. The beach is down the street, and the bus stop is steps from the hostel. The staff is really helpful!

Um local aconchegante (sem luxo), porém muito acolhedor. Próximo de tudo.... rua atras muitas lojas e comércios, a uma quadra da praia.

Excelente atención del personal y muy lindo ambiente en el hotel. Está situado en una zona accesible y céntrica. El desayuno fue muy completo y rico. Muy recomendable!

Muito bom, custo benefício sim em relação ao local
Tudo excelente! Primeiramente a localização é ótima 400 metros da praia..Atendimento do hostel ótimo, tudo q pedimos foi solucionado, educados! Área do do estabelecimento mt boa , espaços públicos bem legais, cozinha livre p os hospedes, bar, cadeiras e redes.. Só não gostei muito do barulho , tarde da noite pessoas falando alto de madrugada nas áreas de acesso, praticamente não dormi mesmo o quarto sendo confortavel, tudo bem que é um hostel, mas depois das 01:30 da manha é muito desrespeito, sei que os funcionarios não podem controlar, mas pelo menos avisar aos outros hospedes!

Got stuck in rio during carnaval and managed to get in here. Good staff good hostel however dorms were bit uncomfy

100% recommended hostel!
Mango Tree turned out to be an excellent choice for those who wants to stay in Rio, near the beach and everything else. Besides the perfect location in Ipanema (a block away from the beach!), the hostel it self is great: clean, safe, fun, with great beds, AC in the room, full kitchen, and really good breakfast. I recommend this place 100% and I'm definetely coming back.

Ótima experiencia
Quarto Bom, bem limpo e organizado, café da manhã ótimo e localização excelente a uma quadra da Praia, ao lado da estação de metrô, bares, restaurantes, mercados, farmácias, cinema. Bem próximo a Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas que é lindo de se passar o dia. Mesmo assim os quartos são silenciosos, tem bar e redes espalhadas pelo local. Excelente
