"A hidden gem in guanacaste province! By far my favorite place, from the warm welcome, to the well-thought out layout of our cabin, to the excellent service all around! The place is clean, safe, well maintained, easy to navigate even for our young kids, who felt right at home. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a chocolate drink and a tasting of various locally crafted cacao products. The breakfast, traditional costa rican, is made fresh every morning, with coffee/tea/hot chocolate included! Dinner in 2026 is 18 USD per adult and 12 USD per child. Well worth it even if it's slightly pricier than local sodas: it's a genuine farm-to-table experience, includes a fresh fruit juice and dessert. We did the included cacao tour (and learned so much!) as well as the paid chocolate workshop (so much fun, and you get to take home 3 tablets of personalized chocolate per person! In 2026, it was 120 USD for our family of four). And what to say about the staff! Friendly, kind, and super patient with the children :) The included spa is gorgeous; we felt like we were right in paradise on earth! Yoga mats, hot bath, cold bath, showers, all in the middle of a gorgeous tropical setting! An ecologically friendly place; they recycle, they promote responsable handling of nature, and, the cacao farm is sustainably managed and organic!"

"Absolutely magical. Pictures do not do Malekus Mountain Lodge justice - it's truly so special and lovely, a work of art not just a place to stay. Roger and Rosey were kind, attentive hosts. The location was beautiful. We had wonderful breakfasts on site and a fantastic dinner just 600 meters away. With only 7 rooms and an intimate feel, this would be a perfect place for a family reunion, small destination wedding, or friends trip. Do know going in that the rooms are small and intimate, and there is no air-conditioning. However, the climate was temperate and the rooms and lodge are well-suited and comfortable. We loved everything about our stay - except for that we didn't get to stay longer! Already hoping to come again!!"

Wherever we went we saw all sorts of animals, monkeys, sloths, toucans, humming birds and so many more. It’s a beautiful paradise and we loved every minute we had here. "We really enjoyed our stay! Jorge made sure we had a pleasant stay and the staff was really nice. The unit we had was basic but clean, of a good size and well equipped. The breakfast was excellent (you can choose from 3 options) and we also had dinner there twice (there is nothing around), which was also good and well priced. We enjoyed the walking trails. It was a very relaxing stay. Note that the road to get to the ranch is bad so you need a 4x4. Even though it was remote, it was a great base to visit Rincon de la Vieja. We are very happy with our stay overall."

"My family and I had a great stay here! JP and his associates welcomed us and made us feel at home. Complimentary breakfast was great and the other meals were delicious. The room itself was great given you are in the jungle, so there was no a/c and typical sugar ants but nothing unexpected. The pool and the views were gorgeous. The hot tub was down while we were there but it wasn’t missed. We took advantage of the Lake Tour and La Tia’s massage services which were both worth the money. We traveled to La Fortuna and used a shuttle service that picked us up right from the hotel. Overall, we would definitely stay here again!"
