The Editory Garden Carmo Funchal

10/10 Excellent

"The small gym was empty both times I went, which was great for me. I never saw anyone swimming in the gorgeous pool, possibly because it’s not very hot this time of year. Staff at reception very helpful. Located extremely close to restaurants and shops. Only thing I didn’t like was breakfast. They have 2 coffee machines that maybe fancy drinks which were great, but the food selection wasn’t appetizing. It was on par with a normal hotel continental breakfast."

Savoy Palace - The Leading Hotels of the World - Savoy Signature

8/10 Good

"Very disappointed with the room as we booked a sea view -we were on the 4th but there was a ledge leading off our balcony - and the bushes growing there were so high that when we sat down we could only see these and not the ocean. Also whilst getting dressed in the room a gardener walked across our balcony which was very uncomfortable as the curtains are black outs so need to be left open. On the second morning we thought would have our tea standing by the balcony railings so we could see the sea but the gardener was working on the bushes outside the balcony next to ours so we couldn’t do this either. On check out I told the receptionist I had some feedback and before I could start she immediately said she knew exactly what I was going to say as they’d had complaints already about this room. She was very polite and said had we complained straight away they would have moved us, I should have asked why we were given this one if other rooms were available. As we didn’t realise on arrival only the following morning about the view and we were only there 2 more nights we didn’t want the hassle of complaining and trying to move rooms as we assumed if there were any others free we wouldn’t have been given this one. It’s a shame as the hotel was really lovely, breakfast was great as were all the staff but there are plenty of hotels to choose from with ocean views whereas with this one you may end up paying for only a ‘partial’ view"

The Views Baia - Adults Only

8/10 Good

"Can’t say enough good things about the property. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was nice and well equipped. The pool area was excellent. Full use of saunas, indoor pool was warm, outdoor a little too cool for my liking. The included breakfasts were more than expected. Lots of good options and the staff catered to my wife’s gluten free needs. Please leave tips for the hard working breakfast staff. The location was good, but the gps kept taking us on different routes and got us lost a couple of times. Parking was a bit of an issue as spaces were at a premium in the evenings. The location was good as it was within a 20 minute walk to the marina/old town area. Just keep in mind, the uphill walk back will challenge you. Our flight was late, but we we allowed to store our bags and use the pool, etc after check out."
