It lies in the state of Saxony-Anhalt and is the end point of the Brocken Railway operated by the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways.

"The information about paid parking is not clearly indicated when searching for hotels with parking. The breakfast made my stomach turn for 4 days straight, right after breakfast. The hotel was decent, but outdated and the service was what I'm not usually accustomed to... Menus thrown on the table in the restaurant etc."
