"honestly felt a bit bamboozled by the booking. The photos online clearly showed a sauna overlooking a hot spring, which was a big reason I chose this hotel. When I arrived, that feature simply did not exist at the property. It felt like false advertising, and that was pretty disappointing. The only relaxation amenity available was a hot tub with no jets. It’s basically just warm water. For a hotel promoting relaxation, that was a bit of a letdown. Like… come on. The room itself was alright—nothing spectacular, but it was clean and comfortable enough for a stay. The staff were very quiet, but they were polite and respectful. The breakfast selection was decent, but if you’re staying multiple days it gets repetitive pretty quickly. It would be nice if they rotated the options a bit, because eating the exact same breakfast every morning for several days isn’t great. Overall the stay was okay, but the misleading photos online really set the wrong expectation, which ended up being the most disappointing part of the experience."

"We arrived very late, they left instructions on the reception window and a message here. Very nice to walk into a warm cabin and the hot tub. Plenty of kitchen equipment. Fast wifi, clean bathroom etc. Check out as easy as the check in. Will be back in the summer for sure and stay here"

"What a nice surprise. Kind of hard to find where to park. Go eat at the restaurant ….. so yummy. Breakfast was just ok, nothing spectacular. Love seeing cows and cats…..will be back. "

"Our stay at Torfhus Retreat was great. The location is perfect for exploring the Golden Circle – we could easily visit major sites without exhausting drives. The hospitality was warm and genuine, making us feel completely at home. One of our favorite surprises was the charming Icelandic horses at the fence from the neighboring farm – we got some wonderful photos of these beautiful creatures. The food was wonderful throughout our stay. Breakfast provided everything we needed to start our days of adventure, and the four-course dinners each evening were truly memorable. We can't recommend Torfhus Retreat highly enough for anyone planning to explore Iceland's Golden Circle."
