We booked to stay for the weekend in December for our anniversary and when we arrived after a two and half hour drive we found the hotel closed apparently for a refit. The hotel have not replied to my email and the phone number is not in use. We had to walk around at 7pm in the wind and rain looking for alternative accommodation which cost a further £100. Hotels.com still have not refunded my money
The hotel was closed. I had to look for alternative accommodation at the last minute. No communication from hotels.com or help from owner who apparently has just purchased hotel.
Full money taken for two rooms needs to be refunded ASAP
Can hotels.com rep please contact me ASAP
When we arrived the property was shutdown. We were directed to alternative accommodation. Run down outside, very basic inside, showers cold. Pictures on Expedia far from reality. As the lead who arranged this trip I was left feeling very embarrassed. I am surprised Expedia had given no warning in advance and will reconsider using the service in future.
Well we turned up to find our hotel closed and being refurbished (they had taken the money two day b4) they left a sign for us saying we’re being put up in a hotel down the road this hotel was dirty, unfinished no fire escapes, last safety check done April 2016, no staff at the hotel checkin was next door by a guy who couldn’t speak English!! The worst hotel I’ve ever staying in,
Very freindly and helpful staff, the room was clean spacious as well as the ensuite , the location is central to everything and is in walking distance odf all the amenities would definetely come back again brilliant hotel and staff.
Staff were completely unhelpful and not friendly at all on arrival. Parking was a nightmare. The room wasnt clean. Not even the basics in the room, no kettle or tea/coffee making equipment. The shower was dirty and even after cleaning was pretty much unusable. Would never stay there again or recommend it to anyone to do so
Absolutely disgraceful, place should be closed down, its disgustingly dirty, took 3 attempts for the staff to get us the right room and key. Woke up to woodlouse crawling over us in both beds. Had to leave at 6am
A little worn in places but lovely place to stay if you like harry potter like buildings :) we had fun and the room was spacious, quirky and comfortable.. just watch out for the tiny lift it goes up and down with a small bump :D lol
On arrival we had to walk past everybody outside having drinks and listening to a solo artist. Once inside we had to queue at the bar to gain access to reception to collect the key for the room. Once in the room we found that the beds were uncomfortable (Family room),the complementary tea/coffee facility consisted of two cups(different sizes) with the tea/coffee/milk and sugar crammed into these, no saucers and no spoons. The kettle was faulty and had to be held down for it to work. The shower had seen better days and the shower curtain stopped the water running away efficiently. It did not look like it had been cleaned in a while. There was no information in the room. Neither was there a telephone in case you needed to contact reception out of hours. We paid a considerable sum of money for this room and quite frankly, it was not worth anywhere near what we paid. I doubt very much that I will book this hotel anytime soon, and would not recommend it.
Great location, right by Skegness Pier, this hotel looks lovely from the outside but is in need of renovation. The breakfast was good - full English, cereals and yoghurts but let down by finding mouldy bread. Staff friendly. Quadruple room needed updating and the sea view wasn't improved by the new building opposite. Overall disappointing for the price.
Really enjoyed our stay staff really friendly and helpful we stayed with my 2 little dogs very dog friendly would definitely stay again

Was fine, single room could do with some new fixtures and fittings, toilet seat wouldn’t stay up, shower head worn and tired but I got by. What was there was clean. Friendly people, great location. Some of the parking on street is free and totally unrestricted. Parking up the street in a car park is free for the first 2 hours. Basic room but accepted dogs. Mattress not particularly comfortable, think it’s just a cheap one,
But I slept fine and no backache! Despite being in a busy area by the pier, the double glazing fitted makes the room very quiet. Nice staff and a lift between floors if you need it. I’d go back for the right price...
Terrible hotel. Last minute and wish I hadn’t. Room was run down with holes in the wall, bed very uncomfortable and as for the cleanliness of the bathroom- yuk!!
No need to worry about breakfast, I left early rather than wait to see if the food matched the supposed cleanliness!!
Never going back there

Tired hotel, but great location and welcoming
We used this hotel as a base for my families 24 hour mini break. It’s an excellent location for enjoying all the amenities of Skegness, we had our tea in the restaurant so we could enjoy the ‘kareoke’ And I have to say it was very good. We can recommend the scampi and chips and children’s chicken nuggets and chips as they were very tasty.
Our room was very basic, with a mis match of furnishings. But was clean and the bed was comfy. The bar area and tables felt generally ‘sticky’ , but I can imagine it’s virtually impossible without lots of extra staff to keep on top of cleaning as the bar is open till 1am and then open again early for breakfast.
Breakfast was ok, the ‘bay Marie’ ( not sure if this is the correct spelling) do not work, too big to handle with nowhere to put the lids while you serve yourself.
All in all, we had a lovely time in Skegness, although I have pointed out a couple of negatives, ( managers need to know customers views) we would return to enjoy Skegness again. Thank you for a lovely time.

The Room was clean with friendly staff. However my last stay in this hotel was 39 years ago and the decor is the same. Unfortunately the shower in our ensuite was not great. The bar area is large with entertainment put on an a Monday night which you will either enjoy or not but the singer hit all the right notes! All in all don't come here expecting the Ritz, but if you want a taste of the English Seaside then you could do a lot worse!

Disappointed
Luckily only stayed one night as had booked a theatre show. Check in wasn’t too bad but cannot tell you how disappointed we were with the rooms, two rooms at the back of the hotel that I presume were last decorated in the 70’s and stunk to high heaven. I did ask if we could move but told the place was full and given we had paid their top room rate do not think it acceptable.

Value for money old style
The Grosvenor House Hotel has proudly stood opposite the Pier for generations but still provides a clean comfortable room with perfect unlimited sea views.Full Breakfast menu - very good - is included. Certain areas of the Hotel are a bit dated but this is excellent value for money.
