Free parking, 5 min walk to the view of the glacier. Could not go farther due to hurricane force winds at the time.

Stop in at the Skogasafn museum near the Skogafoss. You can see the reconstructed turf houses and other buildings behind the main museum. The museum itself has lots of artefacts about Icelandic life and its history. But do not skip the small museum just down the road at Eyjafjallajokull, all about the volvanic eruption in 2010
