Beautifully comfortable bed and fantastic shower. Friendly welcome, good atmosphere in bar and great tapas. However, someone might like to attend to the roof of the building directly below bedroom 1, which offers unexpected views.

We found it homely and the hosts could not do more to make us welcome. They are in the process of refurbishing and once finished the whole place will be superb.

Highly recommended location
Lovely welcoming hosts. So very friendly. Amazing food in the evening and the best breakfast too. Very comfortable room with everything we needed. Highly recommended. Very convenient location just off the A38

Terrible.
Very disappointing experience.  Presumably old photos of 'master room' on profile. Reality was different. Drapes around the four poster bed were missing.  The appearance of the room. was the sole reason for paying the higher rate.  Decor and fittings old and shabby.  Worst problem was the couldn't care less attitude from the charmless, unhelpful man who checked us in.  No idea about customer service. Dinner menu not available on a Friday night, just a couple of very boring 'specials'.  Something worth knowing before booking. Breakfast included in the rate didn't start until 9:30 on a Saturday wiith checkout time 'before 10am'.  Seriously?  Not prepared to waste time waiting for a breakfast that late. So ended up paying again for breakfast elsewhere. Building scruffy and depressing,  inside and out. freezers and shelving units dumped in the car park. No opportunity to complain at the time as the bar was locked and no-one was around when we left at 8am. In fairness bed was comfortable and large shower room was ok.

Would recommend
Very pleasant stay. Well appointed and clean double bedroom. Friendly and accommodating staff. Nice breakfast and most enjoyable evening meal in the pub. Lovely steak and the ham and eggs looked good too!

New management team have recently re-opened the Inn and know that there is much to do - decor, minor maintenance and the like. The lower price reflects this. It is a lovely old building in a pleasant Dartmoor village and I had an enjoyable stay.

A warm welcome
It is under new management. We were warmly welcomed and there was a great atm9sphere. Very good breakfast and lovely home made chicken pie and tender rump steak.

A lovely, welcoming inn on the edge of Dartmoor
Good Sunday roast, good selection of drinks, excellent Full English Breakfast, friendly staff, and a spacious, comfortable room. Very convenient location in the centre of town and less than ten minutes walk from the Dartmoor Way trail.

The Pack Horse was perfectly located for a wedding I was attending and some general sightseeing in the 5 hours I had free. Lovely people and sweet village. Currently under new management with lots of positive improvements planned. Looking forward to staying here again when I am back visiting South Devon. Abbey & Nick are such lovely people. Food was great and they were always available and accommodating.

Poor payment system
The stay was ok, the payment system is a joke... Hotel.com taking payment 2 days early when it clearly states payment on arrival. Had to double pay and now having to claim money back off hotel.com. I won't be using this site again

A great find
A traditional British pub with rooms. Very clean, large room, great shower, a hearty English breakfast, and very friendly staff. A great location for Dartmoor and/or the coast.

Fantastic Old Inn
Great old pub in the heart of the village. Very good value for money with fantastic food. Great location for exploring Dartmoor and South Devon Coast.

Very nice village pub
Nice large room & comfortable bed. High standard of cleanliness. Excellent Full English Breakfast, plus fresh raspberries & blueberries. A very enjoyable two night stay.
