Southport, Connecticut hotel rooms at the Independent

"Not very satisfied with breakfast. Parking was good and we felt safe. Being next to I 95 and the old building, you could hear loud truck traffic all night. In addition to car alarms in the local area. Bed and pillows were so hard it felt like sleeping on the floor. I believe sleeping in the car would have been more comfortable. We never did get any sleep. Seeing people in the lobby in the morning it looked like no one got sleep the night before. It was not worth staying at this hotel for any reason and we will never sleep there again. "

"Elevator was not working our intire trip. When checking in I asked about two areas near and dear to me. The first: Recycling - I was told the told the hotel had recycling for their own needs but not for the guests. Second: No secure internet - with hacking coming from all different directions, it is important for me to protect my information from unwanted sources, but I couldn't do that with the presnet WI-FI available!"

"Bed get a bit lumpy and wasn’t all that comfortable. Overall room was clean. A few tiny ants in the bathroom but it didn’t bother me much. "

"The renovation seems to be taking forever. Charging a "parking fee" and then offering to waive it in exchange for a Google review is poor form. Don't nickel-and-dime your customers. It probably won't deter me from staying again if the room rates stay reasonable, but it doesn't make me feel good about it."

"I have stayed here twice in the past 2 months. It is a lovely boutique hotel. The rooms are neatly designed clean and such a comfortable bed. Great simple breakfast."
