“Lovely guest house in a quiet area, but just a few minutes walk from the sea front We received a lovely warm welcome from Lynn & Scott Our room with an en suite bathroom with a shower was lovely fresh & clean The bed and pillows were super comfortable We were there to celebrate my husband’s 65th birthday and a card & celebration banner were left in the room. “Great location for the South Coast Path. Bus stop to Torquay and Shaldon 3 minutes walk away. Very helpful staff. Room basic but clean with tea and coffee. Main village and cliff top with pubs a five minute walk. Easy to park in side streets even in August.”

“Every member of staff we met was very welcoming, friendly and professional. The room was very well equipped and the breakfast excellent. The special 6 course dinner was very much appreciated. The one concern, in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions, was that the room and especially the en suite was uncomfortably hot and cooled just a little by the fans provided. Air conditioning would have been very welcome!”

“Great welcome, lovely room with luxury extras like chocolate and toiletries. Hosts were so helpful, I struggled with the heat so they ensured our room was kept cool and gave me a beach brolly to use. The location was good, not too near centre but an easy 20 minute walk to the seafront and shops. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfasts were fab, will definitely be returning.”

“Lovely, spacious rooms, environment considered (no silly plastic cups/shower caps). I saw the pool and jacuzzi water being tested twice whilst we were there. Only thing was that we had to pay for parking, but that was because we booked with a third party. Book with hotel. Breakfast lovely, maybe a few more pastry/bread choices needed.”

“Lovely stay, just a few yards from the sea front. Lisa and Christophe made us feel very welcome. The swimming pool was great and just what you need after a long drive or busy day around Torbay. The breakfasts we enjoyed each morning were delicious and kept us full throughout the day. Would definitely return and highly recommend a stay at the lovely Charterhouse if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Torquay.”

“Great location - I booked this room for my son and he had a room with a sea view while the room I booked for myself and husband and another room for son through another company were given rooms at the back of the building!!!! Plumbing requires attention and redecorating urgently needed in corridors leading to rooms. Staff need more training and computer system needs upgrading. Very slow service in the restaurant.”
