Great stay. Loved the pool which was a very good size for a hotel. Lovely bar with friendly helpful staff. Rob was a super waiter. I think the staff all need a pay rise with senior staff being recognised for their experience.

Fantastic location, just a stroll into town and back. Room spacious and spotlessly clean. Good facilities, swimming pool and restaurant on site. Booked room only but did sample an excellent breakfast one morning and the restaurant one evening. Staff helpful and very friendly, would definitely stay again.

The hotel is situated pretty much at the top of the island. This isn’t a problem because the taxi service is fine and it’s a wonderful walk. The only thing I’d say, though, about the hotel itself is that, while it is very clean, it is dated. The room where we stayed was an attic, essentially, which meant that it got pretty hot pretty quickly. The air-conditioning in the room was adequate, but not terrific. Further there is no elevator; so if you have any mobility problems, you’re out of luck here. There’s just no easy way to get anywhere unless you’re on the first floor. Same for getting in and out of a shower. You have to climb over the lip of a tub and hang on. Again, if you have mobility issues, this could be a real hazard, especially when you’re trying to get out. On the positive side, though, the staff is really quite accommodating. In addition, the restaurant at the hotel is really excellent. We only ate there once, but it was by far the best meal we had on the island.

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in for a while. The breakfast menu was fantastic, with a wonderful buffet offering. There was also an exceptional range of hot breakfasts on the menu, and this food was cooked to order very quickly. I also loved the fact that you could make yourself a pot of tea, to take back to your table and enjoy your tea exactly as you like it. The room was very comfortable, and it was great to have a fridge and a small bottle of Guernsey milk left in it each day, with biscuits and some chocs! It's relaxing to come back from a long day and be able to make a cup of tea or coffee with proper milk. The Copenhagen is a decent restaurant, though we only ate there twice because there were so many fabulous restaurants within a 15 minute walk, that we wanted to try! All the staff were really helpful and smiley - it makes such a difference!

Such friendly and helpful staff. The room was very clean, had a small fridge, modern bathroom (with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel) and air conditioning. The bed was large and comfortable, so we were very pleased with our room. We also love dining in the Copenhagen restaurant where there is so much choice.

Fantastic hotel and very friendly staff

Stayed at the de Havelet for 5 nights. From the moment we arrived the staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was very clean and well appointed and the bedroom had aircon. The swimming pool and spa area was very clean and a nice area to relax after a days sightseeing. The restaurant food was of a good standard and all the staff were helpful.

The staff were lovely and went the extra mile. We had a lot of noise in our room and asked to be moved - the receptionist was very understanding and we were moved to a lovely , quiet room at the back of the hotel and also found a bottle of Prosecco and. Strawberries with an apology note - couldn’t have asked for more

A Lovely Hotel, Unashamed of Its Age and History

We enjoyed our stay. Yes, the hotel is old-fashioned,in that it's not all stainless steel, glass and fake marble. It's in a historic house, and you really get that feeling, which we enjoyed. Staff were pleasant and efficient. We had a twin room with an uninspiring view of the Reception area's roof, but you can't win 'em all. Everything was clean. And we really enjoyed the pool area, with hot tub, sauna and steam room. It was very clean and - doubtless because of the time of year - we had it almost to ourselves most visits. Great! We ate twice in the Copenhagen restaurant and can recommend it. Plus, they do very good breakfasts. The bar area gets crowded in the evening and it was quite intimidating walking in to book a table for dinner; but it can't be helped. On one day, there was a major electrical problem with our bathroom, which led to a night of poor sleep, which left me feeling shattered - which was unfortunate because although we were on a largely leisure trip, we did have an important meeting the next day. But the management handled the situation very well. We walked into St Peter Port centre and back and although there's a bit of a hill, it's no big deal. We would happily return to the de Havelet hotel.. Next time in the hope of a room with some kind of view, because if you get the right angle, there are some lovely views from this spot.
