Sorry, we do not understand this anonymous review... Wish we had the opportunity to know what the reason was for this posting? Having been in this business now we recognize it could be one of the following; a typo, thought 1 was good, 5 was bad, someone trying to knock us down on our ratings, or perhaps we did not meet an expectation of the guest (while we strive for perfection, we know that it is impossible to hit it ever time). Wish we had more information here as to why and hope those reviewing us here recognize and appreciate our genuine concern. We have had the wonderful chance to be the owners/innkeepers of this intimately scaled 9 guest room B&B now for almost 10 years. We hope this is viewed in context with this type of review...

Hello, I must say I was surprised by this review as no mention of this issue was made while the guest was staying with us. Our thermostats are set in the mid-60's by default to save energy and for comfort during the evening, but every room has individual thermostats that may be set by the guest to any temperature they like, and being a historic building our heat is baseboard, so may have taken some time to get up to temperature. I will review with housekeeping the default temperature set for checkin to insure its at a comfortable level, but there was no issue to be found with the heating in that room, nor is this a common issue with our guests.We are sorry you were not satisfied with the temperature in the room nevertheless.

Hi Peter, thank you for your feedback. I am surprised as you seemed to have had a good stay with us! In reference to the children playing, this is a very rare occurence that they are playing in the common area. In this case there was a family staying with us with young children (younger than we usually accept to be honest, but they were not noted on the reservation that had been made and it was the holidays so we gladly accommodated, and they were wonderful people!), and our kids spent some time with them playing after breakfast, and they all certainly got noisy as kids do at times, especially around the holidays. I understand you spent a lot of time in our common areas as you were booked in one of our more economical rooms that did not have a sitting area so you took advantage of our television downstairs. We hope if you ever return to visit you will see that generally our common areas are quite peaceful! Wishing you all the best.

Hello, and thank you for your review, as its how as new owners we can continue to strive to meet our guests expecations. The room that you stayed in did not have a TV, and while that is clearly indicated on our own website, I did notice that there was an error on our listing for that room on Expedia/Hotels.com that I will be addressing to make sure the presence of a TV or not is clear in the room description. We apologize for that oversight! 7 of our 9 rooms do have TV's while our 2 smaller more economical rooms do not.You were provided a fresh, locally sourced breakfast on the mornng of your stay which comprised of a Fall harvest salad, egg casserole with locally sourced bread, cheese and mushrooms and seasoned potatoes. Our breakfasts rotate daily so I'm unclear how that expectation might not have been met, as to us Vermont breakfast means good and locally sourced ingredients. Finally, a complementary bottle of wine is a perk only offered to participants in Expedia/Hotel.com's VIP Access program, and our participation in the program only became active on our property on the day you arrived. There was no indication in your reservation that you were a VIP Access member, but if you were one and would have asked us, we would have been happy to provide you this perk.Otherwise we are glad you had a good stay with us, and appreciate the time you took to leave a review!

Yes, the room you booked is one of our more economical rooms, and does not have a TV, which should have been clear from the room description. 7 of our 9 rooms do have Smart TV's with Roku Guest Access, and there is a TV with DirecTV Stream available in the common area. And, as an 1810 farmhouse, we have no capacity to add an elevator to the property. We appreciate the feedback!
