Don't stay there
Terrible place to stay. The shared bathroom had broken and dirty toilet seat, the music in the bar each night was loud and raucous. Couldn't get any sleep. Left before the end of planned stay - Don't stay there!

The Plough Inn
The Plough Inn was a fairly basic hotel. One important point, the bed, once my head hit the pillow I was out like a light. The atmosphere in the bar was wonderful, the locals were amazingly freindly and I was drinking and talking with them all night.

Disappointing and basic
Disappointing, no free car park as advertised. Room had a wonky floor although the twin bed was comfortable. Right by a busy main road so expect traffic noise. Pub does not service food but great bistro options 5-10 mins walk into Highworth. Biggest frustration was the shower did not work, the bath did not have hot water abs so I had to wash my hair under the cold tap in the bath. Would definitely not return

Stay somewhere else
The Plough is a lovely pub run by lovely friendly people, however as a hotel goes my room was the mostcheerless place I have ever stayed. No carpet, no bedside light, comfy enough bed but only about 1ft off the ground so not easy to get in or out. 1 socket hanging out the wall, the other broken with bare wires visible. Tv and kettle run off a junction board. Shared bathroom that always seemed occupied and looked none too clean. No food available at pub. Bit of a walk too anywhere in town.

The staff were helpful. We were allowed into the pub before the check in time of 6pm. It is a budget hotel so I was not expecting luxury, but I was expecting cleanliness. The shared bathroom was filthy, dirty skirting boards, cobwebs over the window, dirty grout round the bath. Our room had dust on the window ledge and around the skirting and the kettle was dusty, I cleaned it before I used it. It is not clear either that all rooms face an increadably busy road and we had lorries passing 24/7 all night less than 5 feet from our bedroom window. The carpet on the landing was stained and the whole place needs a coat of paint. Not a memorable experience.

Cheap n cheerful a bed for the night. Serviceable but by no means impressive. The pub is nice but no food and a good walk to the town. The rooms and bathrooms are useable but run down it’s ok for the price and good enough as an overnight for a working bloke.

Rustic bar /lounge with tv sports But bunkhouse bedroom with coils of bad wiring in the corner. Shared bathroom in need of updating. The low tariff makes it hard to moan about - get what you pay for, it’s safe and comfortable

Not a place to stay
Not good Bed squeaked with every little movement. Cold ,and wind let in wind Shared bathroom ok but other stayers took too long in bathroom Other than that wouldn't stay again would rather travel home

Lovely old pub
My son and I were made very welcome at the Plough. Everything was clean, comfortable and homely - all the essentials thought of. Everyone we met there was friendly and we instantly felt at home. The couple of things I asked for (a bedside lamp, and help with getting the TV working) were seen to readily and with no fuss. Breakfast is not available every day but there are plenty of alternatives in Highworth so that was not a problem. We were given a key to the back door so could come and go as we needed to. Would happily stay again. Things to be aware of: soft mattresses (very comfortable but not for everyone); rooms face onto the main road, which is busy at rush hour, but not a problem if you close the window.

This was ideal for me as I was alone and visiting family in the area so wasnt looking for anything special as I was mostly out. Hotel room met my needs for the two night stay. Recommended for individual stays.

No breakfast, but lean room. Not small, adequate sized twin bedded room. Bathroom across corridor. Good price for a place to kip whilst 'on the road'

Clean. Staircase very small steps and awkward. Especially carrying luggage.. No hot water for shower or wash. Could not go in till 6pm means no rest after travel. NICE VILLAGE for eating in the evening.

Plough Inn, Highworth, greatest B&B in Britain.
The atmosphere at the pub B&B was second to none. The most relaxing and fun experience I have ever had! Anton, the owner was really exceptional. His disposition and countenance was unbelievable. I never thought people like this still existed....never in a billion years. Very difficult to describe completely......his demeanour was of a country lad...extraordinarily laid back..completely fun..unusually rare. Even if you were going through your deepest despair....he would make you laugh and smile forever......and I have never felt so relaxed in my life! If too many people find out this sensation....Plough Inn would be permanently overbooked and I would not have a look in! Not sure to keep it a secret or not!! Definitely the best B&B in the world! Keep it up please Anton....(I think that is your name)...the owner of The Plough Inn.

Quiet Little Pub with Basic Facilities
I needed a convenient B&B in Highworth for just one night. The Plough was very well sited for my needs and I was met on arrival by the Landlord and his wife who were very genial. My room was ample and adequate as well as being well presented but was let down by overseeing the main road. Normally this would not have been a problem, but due to the oppressively hot weather the window was necessarily wide open, leading to high traffic noise. (Enough to drown the TV) Through no fault of the management, other than a lack of any form of fan, I spent a very uncomfortable night due to the temperature. In normal conditions the room would have been more than adequate. The shared Bathroom was adequate if suffering with a very squeaky floor. Breakfast was quite outstanding, cooked to order and both large and really good quality, served in the Bar and really excellent. For those looking for a reasonably priced, if basic B&B, which incidentally allows dogs by arrangement, in mild weather this place is great. The only reason that I have for marking it down was the lack of anything to try to combat the exceedingly high temperature at night.

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Light lamp was thick with dust, I was sneezing all night! Bed was a rock solid mattress with a broken slat and me and my partner both had a sleepless night and a awful back the next morning! Also shared bathroom was inconvenient!

Wij werden heel vriendelijk ontvangen en geholpen door onze gastheer. Hij deed zijn uiterste best om alles wat we wilden weten over openbaar vervoer e.d. uit te zoeken. In het dorp zijn voldoende restaurants en ook een supermarkt. Door het dorp loopt een drukke verkeersweg en het hotel staat aan deze weg. De kamer lag boven de pub maar daar hadden we helemaal geen last van (het was daar beneden alleen maar gezellig en niet rumoerig of zo). Het is wel onduidelijk waar het hotel nu precies ligt omdat de ene keer gesproken wordt van Swindon en de andere keer van Lechlade terwijl het hotel toch echt in Highworth ligt. Dat is belangrijk als je (zoals wij) wandelaars bent. De volgende ochtend was de gastheer uitermate behulpzaam en heeft ons naar onze bestemming gebracht.Wat een aardige man!
