large, comfortable rooms in great neighborhood
We had a great time staying in the Medusa, a mid-19th century building in the vibrant Darlinghurst section of Sydney. There are countless restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance, and the Kings Cross station is only 400 meters away. The Central train station is further but still easy cycling or walking distance. The room was comfortable and large: a great deal for the price. The building is very old, so has far more character than most modern hotels, and has a nice common room near the entrance. The host is super-friendly as well. I'd definitely stay here again.

Although the rooms are small they are well designed (e.g. a functional and well-equipped kitchen within a cupboard) and comfortable. Staff were friendly and willing to do the extra to make guests welcome. Plenty of eating places nearby. A pleasant change from the chain hotels.

Just perfect for my needs. Wanted a well located hotel, reasonable price as very much about work and not being a tourist - just am judging based on this. Jesse is just the most wonderful host, making me feel like a person and not just someone passing through. Could not compliment him highly enough. Also little details like a free Minibar (which Idid not use), and nice bathroom accessories (Aesop). Now my go to place when I come back

This is a hidden gem. The property itself is really well located and presented. Te rooms are really lovely, sophisticated and homely (and I scored an upgrade). The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. The staff were really helpful as I checked in after hours. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

Was a fanatstic stay, so close to everything with a pub straight across the road. Beds were comfortable and room was neat and tidy with complimentary mini bar including wine we couldn't have asked for better.

The experience was outstanding. While the ascent to our room required navigating a flight of stairs, it was a minor inconvenience overshadowed by the room's immaculate condition. Moreover, the hotel exuded a welcoming ambiance that contributed to an overall delightful stay.

Great suprirse
Such a wonderful surprise! I've stayed at a few micro-hotels and haven't been vey satisfied, but this one is amazing. The room is smaller than most hotel rooms in Sydney, though about the same size as a standard hotel room in Europe. There is no work station, but it has everything else you might need, and some nice surprises like Aveda bath soaps. The staff are also great. I had to work late, and the place was quiet and the staff were respectful and welcoming. I needed to extend my stay and they did it without any hassle. Definitely will return.

I constantly had problems with keeping the room warm. The thermostat would constantly reset itself to 16°C. I advised management but the problem persisted during my stay there in August (winter time). Otherwise I enjoyed my stay and hope they can figure out the thermostat problem for the next guest.

Love every little thing about Medusa Hotel
You expect the basics from any hotel, but Medusa delivered 'above and beyond' our expectations. Customer service from Jesse before and during our stay was exceptional. Our weekend stay started with such delight and happiness, with Jesse's warm and welcoming smile and tour. Absolutely love the decor and colours and the 'everything is complimentary' is how things should be! Our favourite was the cocktail shaker in the room ❤ We've always gone for quirky quality places to stay. Medusa is definitely a top choice if you're at Darlinghurst. Thank you very much Jesse! x

Hubby was in for day surgery at St Vincent’s so we came down the day before could not fault the accommodation and close proximity to hospital. This will be a yearly trip to hospital for him so will definitely stay at at Medusa Boutique Hotel again

Fantastic experience
I was extremely happy with my stay at the Medusa. Check-in was great, Shawn was extremely welcoming and quite rightly proud of this boutique hotel. The room I had was quiet, clean and had great water pressure and aircon. It was small but suited us perfectly. Easy walking distance to so many places, coffee shops and restaurants.

Immensely enjoyed my stay at Medusa. The property features an eclectic mix of rooms to fit all needs, with lots of room to relax in and fantastic toiletries to pamper yourself with. The service is excellent, with Sean and the staff available to greet you and there to handle any needs you may have. The desk is not staffed 24 hours, but there's a concierge service available via phone if you do need to reach someone after hours. This hotel made me feel extremely welcome, relaxed, and ready to enjoy all Sydney has to offer. It's located in Darlinghurst and near many great restaurants, bars, clubs, and attractions. Medusa provides a unique and inviting experience, top of my list for accommodation in Sydney.

The Medusa is superbly located in a very walkable distance from the botanical gardens and the harbour front. The area has an abundance of affordable and interesting restaurants. The staff took a personal interest in my plans for visiting Sydney and offered helpful suggestions. I definitely recommend this hotel if you enjoy old world charm and a memorable stay.

Great little hotel our room was large and decor fab with a huge and super comfy bed! We had the room closest to stairs so if your a light sleeper you can hear people coming in at night and going up stairs. Host was really welcoming and helpful, location was great, lots of places to eat around and there and excellent links to transport with kings cross station a 5 minute walk

What an outstanding little hotel. The care and flexibility of the staff was a standout. They were so accommodating to my late check in early check out needs. The property is certainly unique and really fun. The courtyard is very sweet. As the area is close enough to the action but quiet enough to get a good sleep. Good restaurants and cafes in the area, too. Will definitely be staying here again next time I’m in Sydney! Glad I listened to the other reviews what a great little find :)
