"We were encouraged by a tour guide to book a multi-star resort hotel in the Center of Siracusa. But, our research persuaded us that a boutique hotel on the Island of Ortigia was more in line with our standards and preferences. The Algila Ortigia Charme Hotel both met and exceeded our expectations. Everything, including the Center of Siracusa was within walking distance. The morning breakfast was convenient and ample. The bar was a nice place for a nightcap and the whisky selection was excellent. Our Junior Suite was very comfortable with quiet and great air conditioning. Our only regret was that we did not have more time to enjoy the terrace and views that were connected to our room."

"It stands basically in a middle of a field 15 minutes drive from Syracusa. We have been upgraded with the room. Very nive swimming pool, garden and excellent break fast. We took for free bycicals and drive toward the sea. We enjoyeed our short stay But take into conisidirations that you need to drive to get to Syracusa area."

I absolutely loved the jacuzzi and its location, which made the experience even more special. Both of the rocky and sandy beaches were unique and incredibly relaxing. Their boat service also made commuting by sea to Ortigia a truly phenomenal experience. If interested, they offer scooter, e-bike, and kayak…"

So if you take a taxi you're going to have to be very imaginative about how to eat for the rest of the day. Even if you drive, you're looking at a significant drive into town to find a normal restaurant or bar. There are small markets near the facility, but they also require a car to reach them. I was completely amazed by the staff, however. They helped me every single moment of my stay, including how to secure pizzas on a couple nights to prevent myself from starving!"
