Texada Island, British Columbia hotel rooms at the Independent

"Hotel was really clean and pool was perfect for my boys. Just 3ft deep. We also really enjoyed the breakfast. The beds were comfy. We really enjoyed our stay and am def be back . "

"Didn't even look out the window. It was our wedding anniversary #22. The jetted tub was weak. We did really like the breakfast. There was real bacon and soft bagels. Incredibly good large waffles ! Good parking lot and a Superstore within walking distance. Also a cute little Asian market."

"Overall the resort is in a beautiful location. I always stay in the luxury tents on the ocean which is what makes the stay worth it. The main property is a bit dated now. It’s hard to enjoy most of the amenities in the winter when it’s cold and raining, but overall it’s very peaceful and relaxing. The restaurant on site is okay. Food was good, but it is not very lively, It felt catered to a much older demographic. I booked couples massages, the spa is very small with two separate rooms that they open the door in between. Based on photos, it felt a little mis-leading for the massages in the tent on the ocean. Staff were all very friendly and nice. "

"The view from our room was great. Staff tried to upsell us to move to a higher floor for extra $60 We were staying one night to celebrate our anniversary and going to the grotto the day we checked out. We added on the tapas last minute and asked whether we could have a later checkout. The gentleman at front desk was rude and could have just said sorry we cannot accommodate you. But instead he went on this rant about how they have other guests checking in, he cannot hold it for us for 6-8 hours unless we pay $40 per hour and it doesn’t matter that we have grotto. He could have been much nicer. He was not friendly or maybe having a bad day. We did drop a lot of money on our room, grotto, tapas and ate at the restaurant for dinner on arrival so maybe he needs to treat guests a little nicer. The pool and hot tub are very outdated and tiles were missing. Our room was gorgeous and view was stunning and we enjoyed the grotto and tapas. "

"We were very comfortable here. Small hotel with upgraded rooms and hallways. There is no restaurant but a small guest lounge offers 24 hour coffee. We were off season and found the room very quiet and peaceful. "
