As a small business, we care deeply about our guests' experience. There is no excuse for the inconvenience, missing breakfast items, and other service issues.This has not occurred before at our establishment, where we normally give excellent personal service..As sole owner, I am devoted to my guests and have taken immediate steps to correct these problems. I sincerely apologize to you and would like to talk further if you wish to contact me. We offer a continental breakfast instead of a sit-down breakfast because bed and breakfasts are not permitted to serve hot meals without a restaurant license in the city of Boston. Hence, most B&Bs in Boston offer continental breakfast or vouchers to outside cafes. Our baked goods are from Iggy's bakery, one of the best bakeries in Boston, but we regretfully can't offer a sit-down meal. Thank you for complimenting the new bathroom. We are sorry you did not like the floor and locks, however. We chose to preserve the historic character of the building, which dates to the 1700s. It is one of the oldest town houses in Boston, on historic walking tours of Federal buildings and numerous historic house tours in the city. The floors, doors, and other woodwork are original to the 1700s. Drilling to install a standard modern lock set would damage them. Instead, we chose a simple, surface-mounted padlock.The floors are higher near the fireplace due to the 200+ age of the building.The Silk Room is small, but unique, with luxurious silver and cedar furniture, textiles, and oriental carpets. We want it to feel like a richly decorated tent. We are sorry that it did not meet your expectations. Our other rooms are very large suites, the size of an apartment.
