Right now this is my favorite hotel in Tj. Is close to all the things I love. The location is perfect. Close to Tacos el Franc, Plaza Rio, Mercado Hidalgo, Revolution Street (we actually walked there), and so on. So, yes its the best so far, yet I dont believe in conformism and Im always looking for what can be done better. Here is my opinion. First, location, this one is prime, yet the owners didnt seem to realize this and instead opted for a brand new hotel with a niche market oriented towards mexican middle class. Understandable, since the americans have long since stopped visiting Tijuana. I think that this hotel, just based in the location in which it sits, couldve fare much better if instead they cater to the mexican-american tourism and the mexican elite. Because they had the middle class in mind since the beginning the architect did some terrible choices. In the last 20 years theres been a trend in mexican architecture pushed byt the very mexican social context in which the country now lives to cut corners and push the limits of what is practical in order to cut costs in ways that are ridiculous and impractical. Take the hotel parking for example, all spaces are ridiculously tight and is quite hard, dangerous even, to drive in and out of it. The rooms have cut all the "extra espace" leaving just the necessary to walk by. There are no closets or much space to settle your luggage if youre one of those impractical people that like to bring the entire house with you.
