The good points, The bedding was clean. The wifi worked. Bad points: Room was cold. Bedding too cold for time of year/state of heating, and no extra bedding in the room. Carpet in my room warn, faded, stained. Neither bedside lamp worked (they had no bulbs) and one was in a poor physical condition, doubt either had ever seen a PAT tester. No drinking water glasses. Plug broken in washbasin. Labelling on taps worn out so bit of a guess which to use to brush your teeth/fill non-existent drinking water vessel. No free 13A sockets available for phone charger etc. Challenged at breakfast that I hadn't paid for it, which I had; evidence produced, asked to email screenshot. Asked again when I got home - have they no idea how poor this looks? I wish I hadn't paid for it, it was awful. Brown bread - run out. Non-dairy milk - run out. Baked beans cold. Mushroom on cooked breakfast cold. Sorry, I meant the half mushroom. Coffee not even reminiscent of coffee. Fruit juice tasted watery. Promised cold meats/cheese etc nowhere to be seen. Couldn't find anybody in reception for check out, no box for keys either so left them on desk. If you stay here, you'll be pleased to know there are plenty of better breakfast options on the High Street. But my advice is, don't stay here. However desperate. At least I'd have known what to expect in the waiting room on the station platform, and it probably wouldn't have been any colder.

Carpets needed cleaning in edges and corners. Chair was dusty. Floorboards creaked. Could hear other occupants in next room walking on creaking floorboards. No heating in the evening. Everywhere could do with a coat of paint. Fire escape door was left wide open anyone could gain access from outside.

Great location, free car parking for guests, and nice room with a comfy bed and lovely bedding. Bathroom could do with updating, and shower wasn’t really useable as temperature kept fluctuating from hot to cold. Empty shower gel, so no toiletries provided, but we had our own. Leaking shower screen with a gap underneath it, no water glasses and only 1 bath towel provided for a 2 person booking - managed to collect one from reception after 2 trips and double checking there wasn’t another towel in the wardrobe. Could do with deep cleaning / vacuuming under furniture as some of visible carpet was grim, lots of limescale in the loo etc. Very short staffed at breakfast, so difficult to get attention when everything was running out (hot water, ketchup, orange juice). Could have been a good stay, just lacked a bit round the edges which made us grumble!

The room was clean. The bed was clean and very comfortable. Slept like a log. Staff were very courteous and helpful. The food was very good. Poached eggs done to perfection. Will definitely stay there again.

Excellent! Ample free parking, friendly staff, nice breakfast with options. Stayed in the four poster room which was brilliant! Right in the middle of town, walking distance from castle (a minute or two) and train station (10 minutes). Would stay there again!

Broken bed base stuffed with pillows very uncomfortable…. Couldn’t sleep.. I was in a hole all night… Broken shower handle and found it hard to wash. Through medical reasons I cannot take a bath only shower. So again not deluxe as the room name stated Toilet roll holder needs fixing.. breakfast was ok Shame because the building is amazing with all the history . We will come back but would choose another spec room . Went to bar in the evening No coke,tonic or lemonade for mixers ??? We love Tonbridge ad look to visit often as we have family here hope next time changes have been made as it would be a shame to see a beautiful place go completely happy Christmas to all your staff .

Been staying in this hotel many times over the years and it is sadly going down hill. Whilst the main hotel is older and quirky the annex part in the car park really needs an overhaul. Lots of little things like blown bulbs, bathroom heating not working, missing sink plugs, no plastic tumblers in the rooms anymore, badly stocked bar..I could go on. The whole place is just looking very tired and all the little comforts in the rooms are no longer provided.

The staff were helpful but the room and amenities were dire. To enter the room, which was in the annexe, you had to walk through hundreds of cigarette ends and a bin which had not been emptied for ages, based on mess around it. To say the room was tired is an understatement. The carpet was threadbare and torn, the net curtains ripped and the bed ……. How do I describe that? Uncomfortable is being kind. I have never been on anything like it. Worn out, lumpy and the edges unyielding. Two single mattresses pushed together with a hard ridge at the join. No mattress cover either. On top of that the room is infested with clothes moths. The bathroom tiles had filthy grout and the shower head should be thrown out. Water taps needed persuading ……. How this hotel has a three star rating is beyond me. I am sorry but the staff are the only thing preventing one star.

The cleanliness and condition of my room were unacceptable. There were cobwebs in the bedroom, and the wallpaper was ripped in several areas. The bathroom was also in very poor condition, not clean with lots of visible mould, a dirty shower curtain, and multiple black stains across different areas of the ceiling. In addition, the carpet outside the bathroom was damp throughout my stay, and the room had not been properly cleaned, with sticky stains left on the furniture. The bar service was also far below standard. The drink selection was extremely limited, with basic options such as lemonade and orange juice unavailable. I also found that the photos on your website are misleading and do not reflect the current state of the rooms, particularly the bathrooms, which are in significantly worse condition than depicted. These should be updated to accurately show the actual quality.
