🌌Northern Lights over Tromsø - Tromsø - Troms - Norway🇳🇴

➡️A couple of weeks I wrote a caption explaining the Northern Lights from a scientific view👨‍🔬, now it is time for the legends surrounding this amazing spectacle:

📜According to one legend, Odin, the chief god and ruler of Asgard, lived in Valhalla, where he was preparing for Ragnarök. This event was predestined and would be Odin’s greatest battle⚔️, so he needed the bravest warriors at his side. During every battle on Earth, Odin would pick the warriors who would die and join him in Valhalla. The Valkiries👸 were female warriors on horseback. who wore armour and carried spears and shields🛡️, were tasked with leading Odin’s chosen warriors to Valhalla. The Vikings believed the Northern Lights🌌 illuminating the sky were the reflections of the Valkyrie’s armour🛡️ as they led the warrior to Odin.

📜In several other legends, they claim the Northern Lights🌌 were the breath of brave soldier who died in combat or they were believed to be the Bifrost Bridge🌈, a glowing, pulsing arch which led fallen warriors to the their final resting place in Valhalla.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦But for the Sámi people, the Northern Lights🌌 didn’t tell stories of heroism and bravery, they believed that they were the souls of the dead💀, and they were to be feared and respected in equal measure, so you shouldn’t talk🗣️ about them or even waving👋, whistling😗 or singing🎶 under them, as this would alert the lights to your presence and carry you up to the sky⬆️. Nowadays, many Sámi people stay in their homes🏠 when the Northern Lights are illuminating the sky🌌.

“I stayed in scandic hammerfest for 2 nights in a row. Nice view of harbor. Comfortable room condition. Nice breakfast. Perfect receptio . I was very impressed by kindness of reception staff. (Also shes pretty lol)Even though I didnt ask her of many infos such as spot to visit, way to enjoy town, way to pay for parking, also recommendation of local reataurants with her experiences. To stay in Hammerfest. Nothings better than staying here. ps) no free parking lot. :( ”

“핀스네스 고드 캐빈형에서 이틀 동안 머물렀는데 창문을 열면 베란다가 바다로 곧바로 연결되어서 너무 좋았다. 우리는 3명이 머물렀는데 캐빈형은 최대 6명이 함께 머물 수 있는 멋진 숙소였다. 건조기를 포함한 무료 세탁 시설도 있고 주방 시설도 잘 갖추어져 있었다. 난방 시설은 잘 되어 있어서 추운 날씨에도 끄덕없었다. 다만 우리가 머물렀던 숙소의 가스렌지(전열 기구)는 고장이 나 있어서 사용하지 못했다. 연락할 사람이나 방법을 몰라서 불편하지만 그냥 지냈다. We stayed in the Finnsnes God Cabin for two days, and it was so nice that the veranda was directly connected to the sea when we opened the window. There were three of us, but the cabin type was a great place to stay for up to six people....

“The Apartment was spacious and the Kitchen was well stocked. We did not have a clothes washer. Apparently some apartments do and some don't. We needed one. They arranged for us to use the washer at their other property. The breakfast was okay.”

“Suited our needs, family of 4 and booked the 2 bedroom suite. The room was modern and clean and came with a jaw dropping view of the mountains. The staff were accommodating and friendly. The spa was very luxurious. Breakfast each morning was top tier with hot food options. Highly recommend if you don't mind being a 10 minute walk from the city center. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we get the opportunity to return to Tromso.”
