Horrible
They don't lie when they tell you its a ONE STAR hotel. The hotel itself is in kinda poor condition and the rooms are very old. Rooms smell, bathroom is dirty and moldy. Very shady looking people hanging around the hotel. We parked nearby in a parking lot and it costed 45euros for 2 nights (less then 48hours of parking). If your with a car just park in Venice and stay somewhere further awey.
The worst and 2nd most expensive hotel we stayed in during our 2 week trip!!!
Only positive thing is the closeness to Mestre Trainstation for train to Venice.

The best thing about Giovannina is its location as per its distance from the railway station and bus station. It's just 2-3 minutes walk. The rooms were clean and bed and bathroom linens and towels were clean. The hotel, however, is old and has the worn out look. The hotel has tea and coffee vending machines in the reception lobby and does not provide breakfast. There is a Chinese restaurant next to the hotel and the station food court at walking distance. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is definitely recommended for backpackers and tourists who are looking for a decent place in less budget.
Absolutely awful place and should NOT be listed on any travel website as a place to stay on vacation. This is not a hotel!!!!! It is a filthy, rundown, sweat pit and should come with a health and safety warning. Completely unclean on every level and the bathrooms available to us both private (in our room) and shared were just vile. The shower did not work and was filthy, with no more than a dribble coming out of it and was mold filled and full of limescale. Shared bathroom full of urine and faeces- shocking. We had to buy own toilet roll!1 The room was tiny, ageing with no air con but we did get a fan from what looked to be from the 1950's. The condition of the hotel is a disgrace and I certainly would not recommend this to anybody, especially women and families - this is not a place for a lone traveler or children. When we arrived the money had already been taken from my card even though there was an option of paying at the hotel - when I explained this to the incredibly rude guy on reception I was told this is normal when I questioned I had not actually authorised payment the guy all of a sudden could no longer speak English!!!!! I would not give this a one star rating - more like a minus ten rating and I will be writing to all websites listing this property as a credible and safe place to stay as it is neither. I have been to Venice many times and always stayed in Mestre but I urge anybody considering this as an option to please look elsewhere. An absolute disgrace.
I am not happy at all with the service
As they only change used towels after 3 days
One occasion I requested to change towels and one of staff told me they only change every 2 days.
When the night shift staff told me they will change the used towels in every 3 days !!!!!HOW DIRTY !!!!!!’n
How can someone use same York’s for 3days . They even gave us a portable fan that was full of dust.

Disliked: Cleanliness
The hotel was good value and handy to the railway station. It was very old but the sheets were clean. The only big problem was the smell of cigarettes everywhere inside the hotel, inside your room, on the bed, everywhere!
The room was cold, even when the heater was working the entire night.
We had to ask for new blankets, because they were dirrty like hell (I am not talking about a few hair, the big blankets (not the white ones) are not getting cleaned!!)
There was no toilet paper in both share toilets in the floor we stayed and the toilet was two times full of sh... ( That´s not the false of them, but we told them and when we checked out 30 minutes later, it was still there ....).
