I think that this is my favorite hotel anywhere, the location by the river is beautiful and quiet.
The staff are all friendly, helpful and have a seemingly never ending amount of happy, bouncy energy!
We ate from the main dinner menu once, the buffet twice and had a few lunches by the pool - all the food was delicious, plus the Gin and tonics were fabulous! (Yes its a bit expensive but look at where you are!)
The resident Cats, Warthogs & Hippos plus the staff and the river setting make this place incredible
Staff was absolutely amazing. Everyone was willing to help with any questions or concerns. Restaurant was very nice. Breakfast buffet included made to order omelets, French toast, fruit, cereal, juice’s etc.
monkeys, warthogs, and even a hippo are regular sights on the property.
Restaurant overlooks Zimbabwe River.
We enjoyed staying within the national park. Seeing animals right outside our hotel room - hippos, mongoose family, warthogs and monkeys. Quiet, safe and staff very friendly. Vacation of a lifetime! Close to Victoria Falls as well as the downtown of Victoria Falls. Close to the Cheetah and Elephant Experience (which is fantastic). The A'Zambezi lodge property includes a lovely pool area and restaurant area with scrumptious meals. There is a gift shop and spa services too. Plan ahead. Contact the staff through WhatsApp for answers to your questions. It is wise to make reservations and make payment via credit card for all your activities ahead of time. We used Mavigo . They were excellent. Owner is terrific. Prompt service. Quick to provide a receipt and email follow-up of all our activities.
A’Zambezi is luxury enhanced by being on the bank of the Zambezi River. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and especially the location: having wild animals routinely wondering through the grounds (we saw Kudu and Elephants!) and watching the Zambezi River from both the restaurant and the balconies of our rooms makes this one of the best places I have ever stayed. It is expensive but worth it, and we will definitely return.
One very minor point was that one of our party bumped into the sprinklers in the thatch of the walkways behind the rooms: would be worth adding some signage or making them more obvious.
Large well maintained grounds. Reception Staff was very attentive. Joseph was especially kind and helpful. Room was small but offered great views Ann was comfortable for two. Lee, dining room host was wonderful. Shuttle service was a bonus to get to and from various locations. Victor from Heritage booked several activities and cabs for us. He was always available to assist. On-site dining was excellent with breakfast buffet included with our booking level. Highly recommend this place.
Hotel was great , staff from reception through to the bar/ waiting and to housekeeping were so lovely. All were very efficient. Garden area was really nice , especially watching the family of Pumbas come in each evening. Food was excellent in the restaurant & bar.
Only negative would be the crowded bedroom - the bedroom itself is a good size but it’s filled wil a large armchair , huge built in wardrobes , and 2 massive bed side tables and large set of drawers/ desk & desk chair. . Hardly had room to put your suitcase open on the floor. Most people only seem to check in for a couple of nights - ideally all you need is space as it’s unlikely you’ll fully unpack
Very quiet location during low season but staff excellent and excellent in terms of recommendations and arranging various outings. Restaurant is located overlooking the River in an outdoor setting. Food was good and plentiful. I’d recommend the hotel as a ‘Value for Money’ stay while in Victoria Falls
The staff was very helpful even switching us to a new room when a chain-smoking, cancer-in-waiting person checked in to the room next door and spent his holiday on the shared balcony keeping big tobacco in business. The grounds are well maintained. The location is very good relative to Victoria Falls and Zambezi National Park. The staff did, however, leave the lights on every time they cleaned the room. Thus the eco-friendly rating of a 3. The bed was very uncomfortable. It was simply too small for 2 people to sleep comfortably. Make sure to book breakfast when booking the hotel unless you like paying $30/person for french toast, eggs, and bacon.
Slow service. Activities we were told via messages on Hotels.com that were booked for us in advance, we’re not actually booked and prices quoted were wrong. Tried to put us in rooms of less quality than what we pre paid for. Room had missing refrigerator, melted hair dryer, non working phone & reeked of cigarette smoke.

This hotel is fantastic if you love nature . It is outstanding . Hippo grazing outside our hotel window, we saw meerkat , warthog , buffalo, deer and baboons all in the hotel grounds at evening and night , this property is not fenced off the animals come to you . The bar closes at 10pm so you are back in your room soon after , there is a shop but it only sells trinkets and clothing stuff , I saw toothpaste but that was all , nothing of any kind to eat or drink , no bottled water , no crisps or snacks , if you want bottled water you pay at the bar , the food is not very good . We are vegetarian and what we got was horrible , over cooked pasta and all the stuff on the buffet was help yourself but nothing I ate was nice and it’s a fortune . We were £60 for the two of us and we ate chocolate in our room as soon as we got back . The restaurant is also outside and rather dark with insects going about which is expected so why they done have the seating inside is something I don’t understand , but the nature beats the food easily at this hotel
