We had a lovely stay. We stayed in the suite, so we were able to bring our pups too. The owners were so helpful in finding things to do, places to eat, and just telling us a little history of the area. Their breakfast was amazing too, with eggs straight from the chickens they raise! Overall, we had a wonderful time.

Everything about the Island House was fabulous! The host, Bernie and Kenny are great and prepared wonderful breakfast and snacks, especially the carrot cake with cream cheese icing! The location is good also, conveniently located to everything. We definitely hope to come back soon!🌸

Kenny and Bernie very very friendly and helpful. The house is an old lady but well maintained and with a real atmosphere. The room was very confortable and the breakfast excellent. We really felt like home. Much more pleasant than standard motel. We will come back!

My wife and I had a very pleasant stay. For us it was a last-minute getaway. The price was very reasonable. The property was well kept. The innkeepers were very welcoming and helpful but not intrusive. The breakfasts were very good. The location is about ten minutes away from the beach at Nags Head. The steps are quite steep but as mentioned elsewhere quite typical of the time period the home was built in early 1900's. I'm 73 and had no problem with carrying suitcases up the stairs. But if you have physical limitations, it could be an issue. The only other issue would be that there was a shortage of available outlets in our room. The ones available were taken up with AV devices or lamps, etc. So it you want to plug in a laptop or two you would need to unplug something. There were a couple of available outlets in the bathroom if you need to charge your phone overnight. All in all we had a wonderful time and the issues mentioned were very minor.
