“Stayed with my son overnight on our trip to climb Helwellyn. Did the climb prior to checking in, as check in was from 3pm. Asked in advance if we could use the car park upon our arrival in the morning & it was no problem. Once we checked in, the room was good with a modern ensuite, ironing board, hair-dryer and coffee facilities. All the staff were friendly with a nicely stocked bar and it was fine to book a table for our evening meal. The menu had a good choice of meat and vegetarian options....

“Booked a double room but got a room with 3 single beds. Not the end of the world but not what I booked. Beds were uncomfortable. Mattress was really thin, when you sat on it you were basically sat on the bed base and when you laid on the bed you could feel the springs in your back and side. The walls were wafer thin, you can hear the tap running and toilet etc from the room next door. Also the water in the bathroom made a right racket when you ran the tap, shower or flushed the toilet. “지난 9월 13일, 영국 Coast to Coast 를 걷기 위해 출발지인 St. Bees의 매너 하우스 호텔(Manor House Hotel)에서 1박했다. 도착해보니 1층에 로비나 리셉션 데스크는 아예 없고 Pup이 있을 뿐이었는데, 말이 호텔이지 규모가 좀 큰 B&B라고 해야 맞을 것 같다. Pup에는 우리가 도착한 오후에 이미 결혼식 전야제인지 피로연인지, 뭔지 모르지만 발 디딜 틈 없이 사람이 들어차서 파티를 벌이고 있었다. 숙박 접수대는 2층으로 오르는 계단 밑에 폭 70cm 정도의 책상이 전부였는데, 주인인 듯 보이는 70세 넘은 남자는 우리보다는 손님 접대에 정신이 없었고, 그 시간 이후 우리는 황당한 일을 여러 차례 당했다. 우리는 몇 가지 서비스를 부탁했는데 말로는 다 하겠다고 했으나 하나도 이루어지지 않았고, 그 중 가장 황당한 것은 다음 목적지의 호텔 예약이었다. 특별한 사정에 의해 다음날 예약을 하지 못해 부탁을 하니, 걱정 말라며 50Pound 짜리 방을...

“Bedroom and bathroom clean and tidy well apportioned steps to bed room not good for disabled person or any one with mobility problems main stairs ok. bar and lounge well laid out. Breakfast room an orangery to rear lovely all furniture English oak including stairs in bed rooms in-bar area etc food excellent”

“Only stayed for 1 night. We got to the property late and we self checked in, we were left forms for breakfast and filled them in. Beds were comfortable, owners were lovely and breakfast great. All around good stay!”

“Wonderfully authentic Lakeland Inn.Our stay was peaceful with so many opportunities for walks straight from the door.Limited options available for dinner, would have appreciated more choices.cooked breakfast was very good but some yoghurt, fruit would have been welcome.Selection of beers at the bar was very good.The staff work extremely hard but we thought an extra member of staff would have helped to reduce waiting times at dinner and breakfast”

“Our room was two flights up and had a good view. The shower and hairdryer were poor on power and effectiveness but we did have a lovely bath after a long walk. The bed was a little uncomfortable and a bit stale smelling but roomy and light. Breakfast was 8:30-9:30 which was late for walkers trying to get an early start, but they do take away lunches. A mixed bag overall but we paid £136 for a double room and expected more for the price.”
