“The beauty of the property to begin with. Old world charm but modernized without detracting from the original character. The grand mailbox, each floor having a mailbox which directly connects with and is fed by gravity to the “grand” collection box on the ground floor! Beautiful! The basement pool is a spectacle to behold! The beauty along with the perfect water temperature provided a perfect ending to our evening!”
“The staff was so welcoming! It was so nice to have a friendly greeting after driving so far! The room was lovely with a comfortable bed. The location was good for going out for dinner in an unfamiliar area and being able to get in and out of the parking lot easily. I felt very safe. ”

“Everyone who works at this hotel is friendly, helpful, and good at their jobs. While the listing on Hotels.com says they offer a free Continental breakfast, I was delighted to find it included bacon, eggs, and sausage and an elderly server who was very friendly and was constantly in motion checking and replacing different foods that were running low. In short, everyone at this place is gracious, friendly, competent, and CARES!!!”

“This is not the best hotel I've stayed, but it IS the best in this price range. Super nice reception, and the room was spartan but very clean and correct. I stayed here as a pause in the middle of a long trip, and slept great. Also, there's a remarkable, higher-end restaurant nearby, Vault & Cellar, which was a welcome break from the drive.
I'll stay here every time I make this trip.

“This is a convenient place to stop off if you've been visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah National Park. It's out of town slightly, so you would have to drive if you were looking for somewhere else to eat.
