Perfect example of a high quality Express Hotel. Staff were friendly and capable. Hotel was simple but clean and well maintained. Free parking and full breakfast included in price confirmed the value

An adequate night's stay, but not at all convenient (unless you want to be by the shopping centre). The room is small and the bathroom was "unique" (small, uncomfortably dingy). All the components of a full English breakfast were available, but the quality was mediocre --- stale hash browns, pale bacon, old sausage. The whole experience was flat, and we were counting down the hours until our stay ended so that we could get on to our next destination.

Short stay
Good stay over for one night, staff lovely and friendly. Bed slightly smaller than expected. Did not sleep well due to ditch in the mattress but otherwise breakfast was good. Would stay again.

Knifes forks plates some were unclean .only place to relax was in your room or dinning room .The beds were uncomfortable.but honestly the best bit was a staff member briony she was always smiling and always greeted us warmly .mandy who did breakfast was lovely too .

The hotel had no parking charges which is good as some of the other holiday inns charge for parking! The bed in our room needed a mattress upgrade as it was soft and flexible. I ended up falling into the middle of the mattress and the pillows were hard not comfortable. The staff all nice and accommodating. Breakfast was the same as the other holiday inn hotels good. We had a Toby next door to our hotel which was exceptional and we used it on both nights of our stay. Food was great and I expensive too. Nice atmosphere and always busy even week days which is a good sign. We enjoyed our stay here

Staff excellent, buffet good,on arrival was asked if I wanted help with cases ( full point for that )house keeping very good 😊 Down side points , little bit of rubbish at the back of the property visible through room window, toilet seat loose. On the transport side no frequent bus service into York only park and ride.

The Holiday Inn was Brilliant value for money .Clean with great staff Only down side was the walls were a bit thin ,especially when next door decided to have a full blowen argument at 2 in the Morning The Bathroom expelair decided it would come on when it liked usually early morning.

We both got a fantastic sleep every night which we never get at home an what we didnt like was seeing a woman putting her child up beside the pancake machine while she got her hot food.

Not very understanding
Booked this to have new year with my grand parents but due to the floods in York and flooding there home out, than grandad getting rushed to hospital we rang the hotel to see if we could rearrange explaining the circumstances but was passed from one to another but the manager wouldn’t speak just kept saying no in the background,I understand we booked with the no refund policy but it would have been nice if we could have at least changed to another date, so lost our whole stay and money, we stay in holiday inns regularly for work but this one I will avoid at all costs,

Avoid.
I decided to stay here after having stayed at holiday inn express at cornwall. The latter had been a delight. Clean and modernised room and shower, smiling and attentive staff, two elevators, clean kitchen etc... I thought the experience here would have been the same... Instead it was a shame. I'll start with the bad : - we were given a second floor room and the premises do not have an elevator. I visited with my elderly mother and thankfully her legs still work for staircases. But if you need special accessibility, forget it. - I had to delay my stay with them for two days since I had a cold and I couldn't drive. They declined both a partial refund or allowing me to extend my stay by those two days despite my being ill. I had booked for 5 nights, managed to stay the 3 and was charged for all 5. - the room (252) was tired beyond belief : toilet seat was unstable. Toilet itself had limescale in it upon arrival. The desk chair had stains at places I'd rather not think of their origin and I had it replaced (though the person who I mentioned this too at the hotel seemed unimpressed and annoyed that I did). There are cobwebs on the ceilings corners. Cracks in the wall have been painted unceremoniously with non marching paint. Old non washable stains on the pillows and duvets. Not enough plugs (the plug by one of the two bedsides is screwed tight shut). - single charger and an expensive one for all EVs. There is more but I ran out of characters. Avoid.
