Great location, modern and clean hotel.

The hotel was an excellent value for me, with the exception of breakfast being too expensive. (If it isn’t included with the room, go to one of the outside nearby cafes.). I especially appreciated the high end surroundings, a spacious room by Japanese/Kyoto standards and a good 24 hour gym with all the basic necessities for weight training or cardio. The hotel is only 3 minutes away from the central entrance to Kyoto station, which makes it an excellent base for taking trains to the various temples of Kyoto and thereby having a good option for sightseeing on your own. It is also highly convenient for those taking the bullet train to and from Tokyo. These considerations make it one of the best locations in Kyoto, though another location strategy would be to stay in a charming neighborhood (which I previously did in Kyoto). The concierge was very helpful in assisting me to see Kyoto in do-it-myself mode, which was feasible.
