The Ridges Resort on Lake Chatuge

"This property was beautiful. Located right on the lake, the morning and evening views were gorgeous. The description is a bit deceiving. You get the idea there is a lounge, dining, and other amenities on site, and this is just not true. Within walking distance on, or adjacent to the property you will find food and drinks, but within the lodge itself is only a small coffee shop with pre-made sandwiches and random drinks. The website makes it sound like a true meal and drinks are more convenient that what they really are. It looks to be an older lodge that has been renovated. In our room, the fit and finish was not great. They attached a modern barn slider door to the bathroom and left a 2–3-inch gap because of some older and thick base boards. If privacy in the bathroom is a must, you would have not been pleased with this. The fan in the bathroom did not work so it fogged badly during each shower, and the in-room refrigerator was frozen over. Appeared it had not been serviced or replaced in a long time. Other than that, staff was wonderful, hot water and water pressure for showers was GREAT, and the swimming pool was a bonus. My family will stay there again, but only if the rate is right. We stayed during the week, so rates were not bad at all. Their weekend rates I did not believe were a good value."

"The resort is absolutely lovely. It has all of the amenities a family would want for a N. GA mountain trip. We really appreciated the extra efforts Christine (restaurant) and Emily (Brassie's) provided during our stay. They went above and beyond to ensure our family had things that were missing at no fault to the dining options. Christine also gave us really great tips on what we could do in the local areas. We were the only family there. There was a conference, which is apparently the majority of their business. We found this very surprising considering it's a short drive from metro Atlanta, and they have all the things a family would want in a resort in the mountains. We learned they rarely get kids. We would love to go back as a family and hope this changes. Pros: - Indoor/outdoor year-round pool - Lobby area stocked with board games, puzzles, and water and coffee in the morning - Complimentary breakfast buffet for two guests - Nice gym - Friendly staff - Beautiful golf course - Rooms are all under renovation Cons: - Golf course closes if there is rain due to flooding on some holes - The Brassie (low-key dining option) decided to only offer a limited menu two nights in a row. This was upsetting with a picky child whose meal choice was not available. Emily stepped up and was able to get our child the option from the restaurant. Many guests were upset about the limited menu. - No typical resort activities - Limited dining, snacks and coffee options"

"All the staff members were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean. Linens were very clean including towels. However, the pillows were terribly uncomfortable. They were super hard and lumpy. The bathroom tiles on the walls need more attention to remove the mildew. Other than that, you can have a quiet night’s sleep."
