"The kind gentleman checking us in at around 7:30pm was new and unfortunately not familiar with the system. We walked into our assigned room and there was an unknown couple in the bed. Turns out we were given an already occupied room. This was a humiliating experience for all of us, but particularly for the couple in bed. We were then offered another room, but when we walked in we realized it had not been cleaned at all since the previous guests left. There was trash and the bed was unmade, etc....

"Where do I begin? Wow ... Elegance is not the word I would use. Staff is great. Hot shower great. I'm sure the place was a 3 star hotel in the 1970s. It has not been touched since then. Chairs literally falling apart and you have to hammer the arms back in place. Sofas so old no one would take them for free off the street. Towels shredding. Rug dirty. I travel a lot so I'm used to simple hotels but this one needs an entire overhaul. Breakfast is terrible. Every day only toast, jelly, cheese, ham...

"I am a frequent visitor of La Paz. This was my first stay in the hotel and I truly enjoyed the place. The hotel is modern, spacious, and very well run. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They can organize transportation quickly and conveniently. The restaurant has very good quality food including breakfast and the public space is inviting for meetings. "This is probably the best hotel in the town, great staff, a beautiful room, well designed to Western standards and a great view of the lake from the third floor. A glass wall in the bathroom afforded a view of the lake from the shower. They also provided us with an oxygen tank to the room for 180 bob which was great. What I didn't like was the shower over bath. The shower head was too close to the wall so I found myself with one leg up on the bath rim to try to get my body under the shower...

"Walking in I was surprised it was not slicker and could use a more recent renovation, (it was originally the Panama Embassy, years ago.) But we grew to be very fond of this hotel and will continue to go back. It has enormous rooms with enormous windows. It is now surrounded by skyscrapers but is a smaller mansion. The staff is wonderful as is the rear glass enclosed terrace. I loved the antique furniture pieces and the small size: 8 roooms. Mainly though it is a wonderful central...
