"Compact yet cosy! Loved the layout of the room - and that we had a washing machin/dryer too. The front desk staff had one lady who was so helpful with where to go and visit during out brief stay. Great value and very clean - and all you need! "

"The location is perfect; it is about three minutes from the train station. The staff is accommodating, and the room is pristine and clean, with many amenities. The only thing I didn’t like was no bottled water in the room. Water is available in the hallway from a picture. It would have been okay if a jug had been in the room so my husband and I wouldn’t have to make several water run trips. The Japanese breakfast was very delicious. A Western breakfast is also available, but I haven't tried...

"Stayed for 5 nights twin room. It’s just 2-3 minutes walk from train station. The hotel entrance is just next to Lawson. Reception is on 5th floor. Check in and out by self service machine so it’s superb convenient. Room is quite big by Japan standard. There’s a chair and small table near the window. Another smaller chair Bathroom is big enough for 2 to step in and brush teeth together! PJ/loungewear is provided as well."

"Pros: 5 min walk from Matsumoto station, many restaurants within 5-10min walking distance that’s foreign friendly, brand new hotel facility (beds were firm, staff was very friendly, overall facility very clean), free breakfast (western and American options were available and it was all delicious!), late night snacks (ramen and ice cream) available Cons: depending if there’s a tour group or not - the small/medium sized breakfast area can be very busy until 8:30am and you would need to wait,...

"Lovely olde world hotel with a nice basement bath house. Good breakfast and a great location close to shops, restaurants and the beautiful castle. Pick up from the station at 3pm was a bonus!"

"Convenient for public transport and the castle was within walking distance. Unfortunately i was given a smoking room which stank like an old ashtray. The room was heavily nicotine stained and even after using freshner it still smelt.the Free breakfast was limited in choice and not topped up, so first in best selection. The staff are friendly and helpful and i will stay here again but i will specify a non smking room."

"Country Hotel Takayama provides excellent customer services in both Japanese and English. Location is excellent and convenient as it is within couple minutes walking distance to both JR Takayama station and Nohi bus terminal."

"Our stay at Toyoko Inn was beyond amazing. The staff was just outstanding, polite, and very helpful. The breakfast is delicious and so convenient. If you are alone or as a couple then definitely worth it to stay here if you are trying not to spend a lot of money on hotel accommodations. It is perfect for people who plan to spend the days out and about and come back to sleep. It is also very close to the main train station. Thank you to all the amazing staff! "
