“Slightly odd self check in system, especially given I was thinking this would be a conventional bed-and-breakfast or guesthouse experience. We skipped the breakfast offered based on others' reviews. There are some nice options in Portree and other nearby coffee shops and bakeries. The room was spacious and functional. The location is convenient for anyone who just wants to get onto Skye without having to drive any further, especially if having driven from a long distance such as from Inverness....

“Friendly and helpful staff, along with a decent dinner menu in the bar were the highlights. Skimpy breakfast with awful coffee. Room was dated. Pancake pillows. Cramped shower. Walls are thin and could hear neighbors’ phone alarms and opening/closing room doors all morning. Unable to sleep after 5am. Dinner in the restaurant was fully booked by a large group when checking in. Would not stay here again.”

“A very pleasant stay. Breakfast and evening meals were particularly good. The evening meals can easily compete with any good restaurant on the island. A gem. The hotel is remote. There is a 2-mile narrow road with potholes to navigate to get to the property. Consequently, I left in the morning and returned late afternoon, spending the day on other activities. The hotel has a retreat-like quality. The sunroom is a wonderful space for rest and contemplation, or reading and games and conversation....
