"The ground floor is being renovated, so reception is at The Kirkwall Hotel next door. So there is investment here. That being said, hopefully the rooms and floors are next. The existing building is shabby, though my small, single room was functional at best. 5'x10', plus a small bathroom that could do with new sink fixtures. The tight shower had hot water and good water pressure. Staff next door were very helpful and welcoming. Park nerely anywhere "there's no traffic warden"."

"Great location and access, though paid parking is a nuisance during an extended stay. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable if a bit oddly shaped, being squeezed into an older building. The breakfast cold buffet and full (hot) Scottish order process is more than adequate. The Bothy Bar is cozy and inviting, serving Orkney's great beers and whiskies."

"It is an old property and has been maintained somewhat unfortunately both the Bar and the Restaurant were closed we also had a hard time checking in as there was no one on the property just a note with phone numbers to call. I did eventually get a hold of someone and they appeared about ten minutes later. The little beach besides the hotel is quite popular with the locals who play with there kids, walk there dogs and go swimming there, note also that it is only accessible when the tide is out as...
