"The Novotel in Clermont-Ferrand was conveniently just off the autoroute. Good protected parking and very efficient check-in. (And they are DOG FRIENDLY). Rooms are what you expect, although our room was way too warm and even we couldn't regulate the temperature satisfactorily. Not sure what was going on, but the thermostat was not responding. "Nice hotel about 10 mins walk from cathedral. Excellent receptionist who was very knowlegible and booked me two good restaurants . The town itself I’d pleasant and it’s a good stopping point en route from Perpignan to st malo or vica Versa."

"The room smelt of bad drains. In fact the whole corridor smelt awful as we were walking to the room. We were so tired from the journey we put up with it and mentioned it at reception when paying. It was met with a shrug of the shoulders, as if it wasn't their problem. Nothing was deducted from the bill, so we paid alot for a really poor experience and shan't be returning. "I enjoyed my stay and the hotel. Rooms were fine, nice breakfast... but it looks like I came back with a few bed bug bites... I knew it was common in France and I did a quick search on the mattress but didn't see anything... They must have been hiding somewhere else as I got about 10 bites... "

"Very nice, modern spa hotel with good sized rooms that are well equipped like a mini apartment, with kettle, coffee maker, toaster, fridge, dishwasher. It is reasonably priced for what you get and being a resident gives a discount for using the thermal spa facilities. I particularly enjoyed the hammam."

"The Gran Carlina is well situated in town and had free parking which was a bonus. The exterior of the hotel is in a very bad condition and needs major renovation. We were seriously concerned what the inside would be like! The interior was better but dated and a little tired, the same with the bedroom but it was clean.
