I am somewhat biased, as this is where my dog and I prefer to stay on our fairly frequent visits to this lovely part of our country - I'd wholeheartedly recommend it for their hospitality, their food, the excellent breakfasts, some proper beer on tap, comfortable rooms (I've tried three of the six to date, all very comfortable, each with it's own character).
I'd recommend their Wednesday wings and Sunday carvery in particular. I won't say more this time, as I suspect I'll have more to say next review! Just try it: helps if you like dogs; an ideal location for exploring East Anglia (not far from anywhere really, sited in central Norfolk, not far from the A11 to Norwich); if you're not from these parts, please visit to see an English pub and experience the atmosphere; AND it's good value for money too!
My favourite East Anglian hotel - recently refurbished, just as friendly and welcoming. As usual there were all sorts here, it's a proper 'local' - good food, good beer, good cheer! Lots of interesting opinions - all topical issues covered and easily overheard. The bar has two tellies now, and I enjoyed watching the end of an ODI (Sri Lanka won), and then some Happy Valley with mein hosts.
I thoroughly recommend anyone to stay here (as long as you can do stairs), it's reasonably priced, the staff are all lovely, and you'll enjoy a cosy family atmosphere. AND, if you've got a dog, they are made very welcome too - your hosts' dog is Bella, a young Cocker who is happy to meet anybody, but especially visiting hounds.
The kitchen is good, though the unlimited wings are no longer on the menu (shame!): the lasagne is good and Charlotte's breakfasts are very much 'to order' - my two egg, one bacon, a fried slice, and a piece of Black Pudding order is always excellent (yes, I stay here often (why go anywhere else when you've found 'just right'?)).
Thanks to the team! Go visit Reader!!

A nice old pub with a great selection of beers and English breakfast included. The only thing that let it down was the bathroom had a bad smell of old urine. Give the place a deep clean and it would make a huge difference.
Room was clean and had plenty of power points. There was a desk with drawers and a wardrobe with ample space for a few nights stay. The bathroom was as expected with complimentary shower gel and shampoo.
Breakfast was served from 7:00 am (including weekends - which is a rarity these days). A good choice of evening meals. Car parking is limited. but there is plenty of street parking right outside. Wifi was really good.
The area is nice and quiet for a good nights sleep.
Staff were all courteous so all in all and excellent stay.
What's not to like? Fabulous place, great family atmosphere about the place. Great food, good beer, nice room, dog friendly, Limited parking, but right in the middle of town in the middle of Norfolk. Sensible location for anyone working in the area, close to the A11. Good dog walking from the pub. Daniel and his team (overseen by Mum) are very welcoming, as is the pub - it'll wrap it's warm and welcoming arms around you - here you can relax and feel at home and really look forward to returning soon.
An amazing fresh home cooked breakfast with local produce, excellent menu.
Limited parking to the side of the hotel, plenty of street parking just outside.
Lovely staff, really helpful with where to park. The food was delicious 😋. Really gracious host, nothing too much trouble.

An old English local pub/hotel. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Nice evening meals. Suited my needs of 'a bed for the night'. The room was clean with TV, kettle, tea, coffee and milk.

Friendly & Welcoming. Good Food. Basic Room but fine for an overnight stay.
A very interesting ancient inn. The town is spoilt by the fast roads going through the centre and the limited options for eating out other than in the hotel. The church is beautiful!

Staff were excellent and friendly.
Pub was welcoming and inviting.
Breakfast cooked to order and very nice.
Now for the room. No5 a bit dated but spacious. Bed was very firm but could feel every spring in the mattress. Shower pressure abysmal and scalding to start. Had to use a lot of force just to get the dial round to get the cold water flowing and still low pressure.
Some say adds character, I’d say it lacked comfort.
A lovely English Inn. It's an old building looking out on the town and church.
The bed was comfortable and room was warm.
The staff very friendly. Breakfast was great.
Richard is a character. Will come again when visiting family.

I have stayed at the Griffin many times and will continue to choose this venue above any others in the area. Its just a pub with rooms upstairs. It has a good restaurant, and thats exactly what I am looking for. Onsite parking is tight but I've never had any issue parking outside.
It's a 470 year old inn; so the floors are a bit wonky and there is no lift but the bedroom is otherwise good 3 star standard and the staff are courteous and helpful, the restaurant serves good Englsh cuisine at reasonable prices and the bar atmosphere is that of a village pub. and it couldn't be closer to the centre of town
Its just an old Coaching Inn. A pub with rooms on the upper floor, and that is precisely what I love about the place. Never an issue with parking, and two large Supermarkets within a few minutes walk. Takeaways line the main road if something varied is required, but the Griffin has an excellent restaurant serving excellent wholesome fresh tukka. The breakfast option is also excellent. I have stayed there many times and will continue to do so.
Had previously read the reviews for the hotel and decided to give it a go. On arrival friendly welcoming. Got to room, smelt a bit of smoke. TV the size of a small PC monitor. Outside light on all night lighting up the room even with curtains closed. In the morning no heating until 0645. Tried to have a hot shower, no hot water despite running water for 5 minutes.

Staff were helpful and friendly, evening meals we had were good and reasonable priced.
Room was clean but beds mattress were lumpy … could feel the springs almost pocking through. The shower was poor with only a trickle of water. Am afraid the breakfast didn’t live up to the evening meal, there wasn’t even a breakfast menu, no cereals or fruit juice etc , no toast and sausages were like cardboard, egg was under cooked , but at least it wasn’t over priced .
