“Rooms are small, half the size of other 5 star hotels. Bathroom is tiny, hardly any space. Hot water tends to run out after 10 minutes. Very unusual for a hotel of this reputation. Expedia also promised a $50 voucher for VIP access when I purchased the room. The hotel said this was not communicated to them, and Expedia said they cannot honour after I arrived at the hotel. “I don’t even know where to begin to describe this place. It felt like home from the very moment we arrived and were warmly welcomed by the amazing staff. Our room was spotless, the bed incredibly comfortable, and we were even upgraded to a larger room. Breakfast and coffee was delicious. We felt so genuinely cared for throughout our stay that we honestly wished we could have stayed forever. A big shoutout to everyone working there (also to our yoga teacher, Nathalie) who made our first four days...

“This is an amazing property run by amazing and friendly staff. The rooms themselves are unusual and special in design, with an outside (but private) bathroom which is unlike anything else. The pool is nice and the area is surrounded by trees where monkeys jump around and entertain you, but we had no issues with them as they are the shy kind! Would definitely recommend and is great for visits to Galle and Dakata beach which is excellent for surfing. ”

“This was our 2nd stay at the Asian Jewel. Our return was based on our previous experience which was lovely staff, good food, clean and spacious room. The location is out of town but was easy/cheap to get tuk tuks and being situated next to the lagoon allowed us to see lots of beautiful birds from our balcony.
