"Everything was good until the evening of our stay when we received two unwanted visitors. A couple of roaches decided to show up in our room and it was too late to tell the staff because it was after 9 o’clock and they had already gone home.. We reported it the next day and they said they would spray our room while we were out. I feel like the staff should’ve done more about the roaches in our room maybe compensated us in someway or form I was very excited about staying there since it was my birthday and we were planning on staying in a little better upscale hotel but it didn’t turn out that way. I was very disappointed. "
"I think we set ourselves up for failure with this leg of the trip arriving right at the beginning of mosquito season. The everglades themselves are beautiful but my goodness the area around here is dead in early June. Maybe 3 restaurant choices, and rain the whole time. Just a quick heads up to do your research before coming here.
Now, the motel itself was definitely quirky. There were some issues with receiving the confirmation from the management so I didn't realize the office is off-site at a different motel a few blocks away. Check in was easy enough. Property is fine, clean, feels safe.
The room suffered a bit from some haphazard updates throughout the years. Outlets painted over, ceiling fan that doesn't work, multiple wall switches that don't seem to do anything, and a very harsh angle from the door at the entrance to the room. The TV could use some cable management too as plugs, cable boxes, power strips, etc were dangling from behind.
Pros: big fridge, a/c, clean, nice shower, central location, good parking, large closet, looks decent.
Cons: small things like grungy paint, spider webs; smudges on the ceiling, broken drawers in the vanity, and furniture blocking doorways (the desk made it tricky to get to the closet and I'm not a big guy).
Overall it was fine for a night as a place to crash. I'm just glad we didn't need to be here more than overnight."
