Liked the location, the room was clean, and the staff was gracious and accommodating.. The property is old and needs to be more clearly described -- for example, "private bathroom" means a space reserved only for you - but at the opposite end of the hallway. Parking is very tight and needs to be reserved in advance - but it was not clear from the description. The third floor room without an elevator was ok for me but may not be for others.

Old fashioned, affordable, clean and Nutella!
I love this place! It's old fashioned and comfortable, welcoming, and affordable. I liked the Nutella in the shared kitchenette area. My only concern, which is a universal concern, were the large black plastic tamper proof rodent feeding stations on the back lawn. Often those stations have a slow acting anticoagulant rodenticide in them. The rodent leaves the plastic housing, wanders around compromised and then is eaten by a raptor like a hawk, eagle, or owl, or someone's pet. Please get rid of the rodent feeding stations so our raptors are not poisoned.

Didn't like that the room was so tiny with a bathroom down the hall. And this cost the same as the other larger rooms with an attached bath. And it was without a doubt one of the most uncomfortable beds I've ever had, with the head lower than the foot.

Charming Old Town House
I had booked the room for my sister. When I dropped her off to check in it was 30 degrees Loutside. The room was quite cold. When I mentioned to the desk attendant he said he could turn the heat on for an hour and a half. When I asked about the rest of the night he stated that they were very conservative about heat and that he would have to call someone higher up if she needed a higher room temperature. The next day my sister reported that things went to the other extreme. It was like a blast furnace and she had to throw off all the covers. Another concern was the tiny bolt lock which was hanging off the door and would not lock at all due to misalignment / warping of the door. In other ways the place is charming if more than a little dilapidated. The staircase creaked so loudly we thought we might be visiting the Addams Family!

We didnt stay there bathroom was very not close to bedroom which we had no idea of when we booked we want our money back didnt stay had to find another hotel you walk out of your room have to go down a hall about 2 doors away from your room, they need to show in a picture where the bathroom is when renting the room let the customer decide if they want to walk that much away from their room to use the bathroom

This is an inaccurate comment. Firstly, the bathroom is adjacent to the room and is clearly described in the Expedia description. It is rare that a private bathroom is adjacent to the room, but when that is the case, it is clearly described. This guest was abusive in her interactions and was merely attempting to not pay for the accommodations.

Nice room, nice bathroom (separate from our room). Expensive for what the room was but cheaper than other hotels in the area. Beautiful building and good location. No overnight parking in this area so we moved to a parking garage which was more money than the parking offered by the inn.

The room is very clean and big. I am satisfied with the service. It provides a light breakfast,too. I was charged $33 per night for parking although I didn’t have a car. But when I explained to the staff, they refunded me a few days later.

Sheets need changing, charged more but mostly nice
Lots of hair on the bed sheets, pillows and some under the sheets.. also hair on the floor.. was pretty gross! Mattress seemed to be slanted and quite old and very squeaky. Trip ended up costing more than quoted on Hotels.com.. got charged additional tax not quoted in price from Hotels.com. Food/ coffee in the morning was nice, staff was helpful.

The property was very unique and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. However, the room was extremely hot and there seemed to be very little air flow. Opening the windows only exposed us to the noise from the traffic outside so it was not a restful night's sleep. Also, having to carry our luggage up 3 flights of stairs was a little challenging.

I was on the first floor facing Beacon st and the noise from the trains and cars is bad until late at night. Also no control over the AC or heat. Lastly they did not tell me that there is no breakfast on the weekends. Breakfast during the week was not what I would have expected. Sub par.

Beautiful brownstone, beautiful streets cape/ neighborhood Great service - hotel called me to confirm late checkin and parking. Also friendly front desk service the next day… Room 6 faces Beacon - a little street noise from the trolley…but I live in the country;) Parking was really really tight - not recommended for amateurs! (Space 2!) Would Love to have a water glass in the room. Bonus would be some snacks/ mini bar for late arrival. Great stay. Thanks!

I booked this place because it was within walking distance of the venue where we were going to see a concert I found it quaint .What I didn’t like was when we got to our room which happened to be the last room on the top floor, the emergency exit door didn’t lock from the inside or the outside. This door leads directly into our room from outside. When I went down to the front desk to mention this the response I got was -that’s impossible. The alarm would’ve went off. Obviously it did not. So I said to the person at the desk that was quite concerning to me considering I do not know the area and I don’t know who has access. The response I got in return was, I wouldn’t worry about it. No one’s going to go there. They said that they would make a call to see if anything can be done. I never heard back from them at all until we were getting ready to leave to go to our venue when I went to ask was there any news. Their response was , well I wouldn’t be able to reach anybody now anyways, but I think it’s fine. I was expecting either a room change or a temporary fix to the door. Which left me a little uneasy staying in that room overnight. The TV didn’t work at all. the window that had the AC in it wasn’t sealed from outside . We had two double beds. My daughter’s bed had curly hair in the bed and it didn’t smell too pleasant. We could not fill up our water bottle on arrival or upon departure the next day, because it was empty and not refilled. It cost $ 45 cdn to park on street

We stayed at the Beacon Inn for 3 nights and had a wonderful experience. The buildings and rooms have a unique, antique charm that we adored, and the service was friendly and helpful. We stayed there because it was within walking distance of Fenway Park, but found that the area around the Inn was absolutely wonderful as well. Would highly recommend to anyone (especially those, like myself, who enjoy buildings with an historical feel) and will absolutely be staying there the next time I am in Boston :-)
