"The hotel did not meet our expectations, it does not match the price or the reviews. We got a room without a real window (the window faced the hallway) so there is no oxygen inside. There was an unpleasant smell in the room, which could not be ventilated. The wall near the air conditioning was wet and with black mold. The air conditioning also smelled. It was very unpleasant. The bed was worn, the mattress had a depression in the middle.The breakfast was only basic, the ingredients did not seem to be of good quality. So far the worst hotel I have been to, I would not return."

My room had no air conditioning or ventilation but a ceiling fan that was too loud to sleep with, so I was sweating bullets for a week. The wifi had 3 different networks and they were all so intolerably slow until the point that I gave up and used my data service. The staff was nice, but not a single one knew a word in a language that's not Portuguese. The area where the hostel is, is right near a bar and a plaza in the center of Rio, rendering a sketchy walk in the night. To sum up, I would book the hostel if only I had no other option, for there are thousands in such a city as Rio de Janeiro. "
