“The hotel is situated pretty much at the top of the island. This isn’t a problem because the taxi service is fine and it’s a wonderful walk. The only thing I’d say, though, about the hotel itself is that, while it is very clean, it is dated. The room where we stayed was an attic, essentially, which meant that it got pretty hot pretty quickly. The air-conditioning in the room was adequate, but not terrific. Further there is no elevator; so if you have any mobility problems, you’re out of luck...

“Staff, accommodation and food were great, though staying for 10 days we virtually had every dish from The Ocean menu! It did get a bit boring! The Mexican restaurant was very noisy and service was poor, and we only went there once because of that. Disappointed that we weren’t told beforehand about the lack of Spa activities due to staff illness. We were looking forward to the odd experience and they were not available unless we went into St Peter Port. The road closure was also a problem which...

“Stayed here for 4 nights. Hotel is brillantly located in a quiet street just off the high street in St Peter Port. so it close to all the ammenities you need such as ferry port, shops and restaurants. The only issue, we had was that the first room they put us in was on the ground floor room. The bathroom of this room is adjacent to the street, therefore my wife did not feel safe using the bathroom. We talked to the staff and in fairness they moved us to a room on the top floor which was more...

“The room has lovely sea views but the carpet is heavily stained and the decor generally quite tired. The room was also incredibly hot despite being offered a fan by the helpful staff. It is a great hindrance that the windows cannot be opened more than a few inches. For a hotel of this reputation and in this price range, air conditioning should be incorporated throughout. The ground floor area and amenities like the pool are wonderful, as are the friendly staff. The fabric of the hotel (e.g....

“Our room was very clean and tidy. Compact bathroom with a very small sink. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast baskets very good and arrived early between 7-30am and 8 am. Great location a ten minute walk to the centre of St Peter’s port. Two excellent restaurants a matter of metres away. Otto Italian and china red Chinese. Both excellent food and service. We stayed for ten days and throughly enjoyed the island.”
