Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've prepared well. We've made a list of handy hints that will get your Gullegem vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having a pain-free flight experience is to pack ahead. So, let's start with the basics: passport, travel docs, cash and important medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help keep you busy, like your laptop or a good book. It's also a wise idea to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones. And of course, don't forget to toss in toiletry items like a toothbrush, facial wipes and a clean set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) hiding in the bottom of your hand luggage. Other banned items include flammable or explosive products, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and liquids and gels in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to be as comfortable as possible. Dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to pack a cardigan just in case you get chilly. Always go with roomy, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy hiking boots in your main luggage.
- A serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing foot and leg exercises while seated helps to prevent this from happening. Wearing a quality pair of compression socks or tights is also recommended.
